Got so far, five orbs in before the Game Over...

Nice platformer overall, varied obstacles, good controls, maybe not the most intuitive game over screen (was killed by an 'unknown' once -was supposed to write how I did in the comments but I'm not sure how :P), and there's one orb it seems you have to sacrifice a life to get (right under a platform without ground below it), but overall this was fun.

Medal though... does it unlock if you complete the game? Doesn't unlock when I start it...

This was a blast y'all. :) Thanks for the commitment and creative; daily seasonal cheer!

Though didn't this have waaay more medals just recently, all secret? Was that just a visual quirk or some time-limited thing for extra Christmas-related appreciation?

the medals where cut down at the end

KnoseDoge responds:

so, to have sequential id numbers for medals you have to add all of them at the same time. we filled up all medals, locked them, and removed whichever medal slot that wasn't used up during the event. we had no idea at the start about how many medals (besides the daily ones) we needed, so that's why there were a lot at the start.

Fun to play; fun to replay; fun to come back to every once in a while for additional fun times! Feels like one of those games that might possibly garner a bit of a following and stay alive through the years here.

Interface design is smooth and easy to understand, alternatives entertaining, idea simple, but the fact that you can actually add your own stamp to it is definitely the most appealing part of it.

Good stuff, and always do appreciate them medals; extra score incentive.

Thanks for the detailed review as always Cyberdevil, much respect!

Congrats to the winners! :)

This was fun. Fun idea to turn this into a nostalgic Win XP experience too, although it seems you can click through windows and open things you're not expecting to open, but maybe that's an intended quirk for all the more old OS-like nostalgia? :P

Nice work on this, and thanks for arranging yet another year!

I could fix the bug of clicking through, but I found it too amusing, just like most of the spelling errors I threw in!

Keeping this going for 31 levels, much less 1001... just seems crazy.

I like the design, but the level layout/enemy count feels a bit too compact for comfort. You're boxed in almost right from the start, new enemies keep popping up, and there's no margin of error at all if you want to survive... maybe it's a game you can master but first impression's difficulty is just way too high.

Thinking a few lives and/or power-up's to assist you might boost the concept, or just a larger canvas, so you can keep track of enemies more from afar. Or both.

I appreciate the feedback, the game is meant to be chaotic and difficult
and also your gun improves as the levels get harder, so the game gets faster and faster
otherwise I agree it would be impossible to keep going haha
(also there are breaks every few levels where a wheel appears and the enemies stop spawning for a bit)
Its possible I need to include some sort of indicator that its going to get easier, so this info helps ^^

Catchy, simple in premise yet complex in mastering, little arcade-like gem here...

Appreciable how easy it is to play over and over and try to trump your score too, the mechanics are smooth, the visuals easy on the eyes, the sound design soothing and rewarding. There's really nothing lost here save for possibly a little more variation if you'd want to keep players in for longer. Fun to play a few rounds but maybe not endlessly. Good game.

I appreciate the feedback, I do agree that it's an idea that could be expanded upon. Thanks for playing and climbing the leaderboards!

Didn't know about this game before this but intrigued to look it up now... favorite artwork here's probably the @lyaturni one, really stands out, but so much variation; quality overall. Wholesome work y'all! Now how to get the final secret medal so few people thus far have unlocked hmm... any hint mayhaps...?

Love the idea here. :) The game's great, idea's great, design's great... medals beyond the 'spoon flip' don't seem to be unlocking for me however. Maybe the API connection times out? Might be good with some 'recheck medals' button for cases like this. And at the end apparently I've unlocked 28/24 medals...?

Mechanics overall feel maybe a bit too smooth/too fast with the movement. Hard to make precision jumps, and it might be nice with a little clearer instructions on what the power-up's do when you get them, to point you in the right direction.

But overall this was great. Looking forward to play the real thing, or more of this.

ShackoCheese responds:

Thank you for this great feedback. We are looking in to the medal issue, and trying to fix it as fast as we can. Also we are spending a bit more time with fixing the movement to make it fit. Thank you again, The Shack o Cheese team (omg this feels so corporate-e. Did we do it right?)

This was so much better than I expected! Solid control, solid visuals, good difficulty... though might want to work a bit on adding menus/transitions/counters and such. You wonder where you are, if you're progressing or if it's endless; if it's a finite game or no... also not sure highscores/medals are working? Unless they require you actually complete the game more so than get a Game Over? Might be good to test those first; show they can really be unclocked.

Thanks For Your Response Ill Try Sort These Out Also Try Updating The Game Aswell As Music And Levels!

Good game, very swift and easy to play, but daaamn are these difficult questions! And I made it 24 via Google before I ran into a trick question I was sure I knew. XD

Would've been nice with some kind of categorization so you can choose one of relevance to you, or more common knowledge trivia, or actually fewer questions, so it's possible to learn by trial and error. Gotta give props on amount too, though I don't know if it's a good thing or no always, especially when you're chasing medals/scores...

But good game! Works well.

MuckPie responds:

Thank you for your kind words and honest feedback!

As for categorization, that’s something I could potentially work on in the future. The amount of questions and varying difficulties was a conscious decision as I want to present a challenge.

Update:
After some similar feedback, I decided to remove the Score 100 medal. Hopefully 50 is more achievable.
