It's like a piece of architecture. Beautiful summetry. Art-itecture? :P How this could pop up out of nowhere though... would be interesting to hear more about that! Out of nothing? Out of a particular brush? Out of the program crashing...? Does look cool.

i made a grid, put a texture below it on a different layer, set an alpha for each box of the grid, rotated it in a tween, converted them all to individual frames, then i hit the "affect all frames onion" button and boom

it appeared before me. i thought it was cute, genuinely breathtaking, and worth putting up.

A pixel piece with familiar characters for once! :D Interesting arrangement, and of course awesome sprite work! So close to the originals I hope you don't get into any copyright issues for it... good stuff. Happy Anniversary too! Sure has been a long time...

Thank. I struggle with the anatomy since I'm practicing how it works.

Always nice to see the progress behind a piece, though in this case both first and second version are surprisingly similar. This isn't just outlines, but has shading and everything. Some details, like mouth and eyes, feel different in the new, but overall it seems like the line work is pretty much traced over from this one? From hand drawn to digital? In that way it's more like a remake of this, than this a WIP of the other, but interesting to compare the two. The color definitely adds a lot, and the second does feel more refined, though the sketchy line work carries over as well.

Thank you very much for the nice comment. Yes, it's pretty much hand draw to digital, I'm mostly experimenting with digital drawing now, but I' really not used to it, so I'm working on some hand draw sketches. I draw only out of fun, so I'm progressing slowly on my free time, but I'm really enjoying he process. Again, thank you for the constructive comment.

A masterful piece! So much detail. Love the shifts in color, and the contemplative centerpiece... like a combination between a cat and a dragon. The frame is the only thing that feels somehow simple in comparison, though if the characters are code that'd be pretty cool, wonder if it's possible to decipher... nice work!

Thank you! The characters around the border are actually ancient Hylian :)

Such a grown-up expression for a young one though... very atmospheric! I like the linear style of shading, whatever that form be called. The light falls naturally too.

BoMToons responds:

Yeah, the gaze/expression in this is really interesting to me, I didn't intend it to look so "wise" or "troubled" or anything, it just kinda turned out that way. Probably "hatching" for that shading style ;-)

Thanks for the review!

Must've been weird drawing this. XD It's like looking in the mirror... at your soul trapped in some dark, dystopian dimension on the other side of the looking glass.

BoMToons responds:

Ha ha, you nailed the mood!

Real nice and atmospheric background! Love the symmetry and contrast in particular, and subtle pattern on the background plain.

Thanks, CD!

Hmm? Scope creep? Terminology that goes over my head, like how this is actually a telephone pole and no rug... if looked at from a different perspective. Really cool idea of putting them together like this, in thumbnail as well as with the pictures. Pretty simple work this time, but alright, I can dig it! Idea is cool. The way the line work runs downwards should've given me a hint too. :) Also same recurring color theme hmm...

RionHunter responds:

Scope creep is when a project slowly acquires more criteria for completion or the expectations around quality increase. It can be a problem because it can make the end of the project unattainable or forever shifting

Glad you like the many layers this piece has.

Another one with this bright red theme, and brighter than ever! For once it goes perfect with the landscape, and again it's a barren land, devoid of life, imaginative and far away... really digging these motives.

You should check out my instagram for context regarding the colour choices
