A sinister and shadowy painting this one. The characters float into each other like different worlds, and I wonder if there is a connection between them, or if they're there more to fill the canvas; convey the notion of impending doom and darkness? Nice atmosphere.

Squiel responds:

It's a quite dark illustration. The characters are different pieces of the world they inhabit. The connection is not clear and there is no story behind it, just possibilities. Darkness is always there and doom follows. Thank you.

Wouldn't have guessed this was watercolor too if you didn't mention it! The background rock (very nicely chiseled btw, looks so natural) I can imagine, but the surrounding scenery really looks like pastels. Feels like you don't really get a sense of dimension in this one, how big that cliff really is, or how wide the water is, or how high the trees are... it all kind offloats together as a frame, I assume it's a grand view though, so if that could be conveyed in the image it'd be all the greater IMO. Otherwise: very nice!

Squiel responds:

Yes! Many layers of watercolor. Thank you, the stone was tricky to paint. The foreground watercolors with very little water, that way, it is more opaque. The dimension and perspective were difficult, the lower part of the lion is about 5 meters above the ground and the lion itself is huge and between people and the wall there is a mini lake of about 20 mt wide. The name of the monument is Loewendenkmal, you can google it to see photos, here is one from further away:

An ominous onlooker in the background sky, shing down upon his real-life counterpart, the one in charge of the industry; exploitation surrounding? The innocent main character sitting beside the spotlight rather than in it, cast away into the world that was not his doing. That's how it makes me feel at least, wonder if that's the truth you choose to convey, or something different entirely? Another nice piece; interesting to analyze and look at.

Squiel responds:

I forgot to include the link to the comic this cover belongs to (http://squiel.com/en/portfolio). The characters come from very different backgrounds and so, they are separated. You are right, the main character is at the margin, as in life. Thank you!

That's a... weird kind of dog! And whatever little critter it is he's fighting? Interesting gathering of conlookers too, and the shadow is like a shape in iteself. The one thing I really like about watercolor are the slivers if white glow, so powerful on that caped character with a Pumpkin nose in particular. Nice piece!

Squiel responds:

Thank you very much for the scouting! The idea was to depict Christmas villains. Jack Skellington's ghost dog is fighting with the Grinch's. Watercolors are my favourite media. They are jumping/floating and to convey that, the shadow should be strong too. Thanks!

Interesting effect with the webbed pattern on the while background cityscape. Overall this looks awesome, and it feels like the excessive bloom just makes it more so. Gritty cityscape; shadowy Spider-Man, and the blood-splatter... for effect, or for action? A scene captured in the middle of a fight, maybe? Nice work!

Wow, thanks for the awesome critique! :) You pointed out more details than I thought I put in there haha!

A bit low resolution, but it looks good! Nice work on outline and glow, and so much color in that background sky.

Thanks!
it took about five or six hours!

A pretty detailed Storm Trooper mask, looks good! I actually watched the new movie just yesterday, not a big Star Wars fanatic (is fan short for fanatic? :P), but it really surpassed my expectations. Looking forward to the sequels! Nice work on this. Would've been cool btw with a version of this with Finn's blood-streak-mark on it, Storm Trooper with persona. Keep it going!

DragonKeeper345 responds:

Was thinking about the blood streak, probably would have done it. well whatever, thanks for feedback and means a lot.

A slick and finely-lined piece of character portrait! Simple angled square in the background adds to the styleful simplicity. Nice work!

Donpatch-XD responds:

Thanks :D

Wonder if this is used for anything, a game, animation? Pretty nice pixel work, good detail; shading, though you need to view in original size to really see it. Lots of angles too, a surprising amount actually, makes me wonder all the more what it'd be used for. :) Good work.
