Pico Day 2K14!

This time I actually made something... other than that subtly flashy compilation of background images and custom text you see decorating this post above. :P

I've spent the day working on graphics for a collaborative Pico pixel platformer effort, which should be published to a portal near you sometime soon, whilst recording the live stream for future watching. I think I have about five hours of footage. Ugh. So, how was the party? What excessive events passed by unnoticed by the worldwide livestream viewers? How did you spend this grand event? Happy Pico Day!

Also nice pixel, art man it has some out of place particles at the beginning, dust if you want to call it that, but it ended looking swell!

Thanks man! Compared to the other submissions it ended up a rather simple last-minute thing, but it's something. :) That main sprite's going to be used in the game too. I don't know why those out of place particles show up though, the graphic itself has no particles out of place, it only shows when it plays.

Yeah I agree, it was a last-minute manufacture, but time frame considered I was pretty happy with the result. Thought there'd be a lot more amateur artists involved too, but everybody else made really professional stuff! :O Maybe the incredibly professional collab logo scared off any potential newcomers...

Hominid was an animation exclusive. :) Apart from Pico there'll be only a select few BBS regulars transformed to sprite form. I'm uploading the footage I got right now, was more than 5 hours, I'll post a link later on.

Oh shit bro, you the man! Wow, the audio was fucked, huh? I still skimmed and found very helpful and salient action though, thanks! I'll need this to figure out who I met lol. The pictures I took this year, were just as lousy as last year, but with a better camera.

What I got you.... was awfully dreadfully plain, I had hoped artists would have doodled on it for you, but the party migrated differently this year. I didn't grab anything for myself from the store, looked like Tom really wanted it gone, but there was no looting at least. I can send it to you in a letter, anytime you'd like... just wish I had more to shove in the envelope! You got stickers and postcards right?

You mean how you can barely hear what people are saying unless they lean into the mic? Indeed, lot of lost conversation there... speaking of fucked up audio though, I recorded the final batch in a three hour segment, in a different format (on my other computer - with different software), and attempting to split it into parts keeps resulting in the audio getting cut out. And it looks like the YouTube editor won't allow editing unless I provide it with shorter clips... gotta find a working program for that.

Haha, could maybe put up a list of who everybody is (the ones somebody knows) in the video later on; times at which they can be seen, that'd be a useful reference. I remember emily-youcis and gory blizzard from last year, and Wade pops up at one time... when/where do you make an appearance btw? Or is that later on? Looking forward to seeing those pics nevertheless.

Ah, an actual material piece of something with... names on it? That's still way more awesome than I'd expected though, was thinking something along the lines of: digital visual/video footage. :D Yeah I've got a few stickers and postcards, how so? I'll PM my address in a minute!

Hey man, I'm so glad you recorded the stream! I ended up with connectivity problems while it was noon over in philly. The chat and cam were lagging a lot here and eventually it just stopped working altogether so yeah.

I'm surprised that you didn't recognize any of the characters. I assure you that you've seen the movies they appear in. They're pretty memorable characters too. The only one I found exceptionally hard to guess was the girl in the green dress from Gamer Turbo.

Glad you got something out of them. :) I've got a couple more parts to link to, too, need to get around to fixing some format issues on that final chunk o video.

Actually still haven't watched most of the stream myself, only the glimpses I took when it was live. It's on my todo list! :P Characters as in the people? I guess some names may be revealed when I watch it, but most usernames have no faces linked to them.... IDK, I should recognize some people from last year, but most are yet strangers in appearance.

Haha no, I wasn't talking about partygoers, I meant the background. I read through the comments and noticed how you recognized only two of the girls on there. As for people in the livestream, I didn't recognize many of them myself. I have yet to watch it all though, so yeah :)

I've got around 120 pictures of the event, between 1-3 MB apiece, but not a lot of them are good, or lovingly composed. Altogether, it's about 230MB of stuff I'm reluctant to zip, so I might just fix and crop the best ones, and the rest go will into another zip file.

After things settle down, I'll make an index post (comments disabled), then a Pico Day pictorial post (not too big), then a commissioned artworks post... I still like my crummy and dispatch from the office :) but I'm wondering how much to write for the pictorial post, since a lot of anecdotes are already out there...

Should be fun. I just read through ZJs incredibly long listing of Pico Day events, I realize I recognize him and Grub-xer0 from the stream too, picking up bits and pieces of recognition here and there. :P As much as there's time for?

I know all of them by now, so I'll hint you. One of these girls is from a recent Sexual-Lobster animation, and another starred in a video by rtil. Yet another came from a popular nyancat parody. The last one was from a video that scored really high back in 2005. He never uploaded another sequel, but the artist has been showing some activity on Newgrounds as of late.

Raw Latex and Merry Melony were correct sir! The girl from rtil can be seen simply by glancing over the icons of his flash movies. You can't miss it. As for the nyancat... You know ZTV News? Same voice actress. The girl in green is wearing a dress and has a third eye. I actually spoiled that one earlier.

Yeah I usually review everything I watch, so if the 'leave a review' link isn't there I know I've seen it before. :) Course there are exceptions... haha, well I haven't been as attentive over the years as I'd like to, I'm probably on my longest review-all-top-5-daily streak so far, five months and running! Lol, it might be! I took a selfie at the hotel, and it looks like I had cataracts or something! I did clean my old contacts before going, but I noticed a ding in the corner of one, so I put a fresh pair in. Because astigmatism in one eye, my disposable contacts cost a bundle :|
