comeback 2013

It's like last year but this year!

Well, I knew you were back, but... you leveled up while on vacation? Could you deposit frequently out in the wilds, or did you have a friend vote 5X on your account daily?

I left for vacation with about 30 EXP to go, so it wasn't that difficult to achieve. :) Deposits probably... once ever other week. A friend depositing? Wouldn't that be cheating? :P Not that I have anyone I'd both trust with my NG credentials and want to burden with a daily task for more than two months straight... I have thought about it.

When hurricane Sandy knocked me out, I could only contact my sis by landline, so I had her post a message saying I didn't get washed out to sea... and vote, but don't think she did :| Under your circumstances, I would've found someone here to trust with daily deposits... mainly 'cause I had waaay too many years unlogged service.

Happy Madness Day broseph, may the antics of little gray murder dolls enlighten you!

So the farm was in the path of destruction! How were the damages? Do you see the sea from where you live?

It would be useful to have someone else deposit, but I find it hard to trust anyone short of family with my login to this place, and family's usually busy (or technologically unaware)... same thing with my email. Might be easier if there was an option to backup account data, like there is on FB... it's on the wrong site!

Yeah, roofs were torn up... in fact, the house next door (which we own) is still leaking despite repairs. That will be expensive. As for the rest, the farmhouse is okay, not sure about the other buildings, but I haven't seen any water dripping yet. Oh hell no, the sea is thankfully a good drive away (1/2hr, 45 minutes to drive there).. in fact, a big stretch of boardwalk just went up in flames: undersand electrical line arced up into a custard stand.

Good thing they didn't blow away completely. Must be sturdy buildings to withstand such storms, what we live in here wouldn't last long. The timbered house up North, dating 1890, might have a fighting chance...

Woah, the beach sounds like a dangerous place! Personally I love water though, we have a lake view here too, though here it's just a glimpse. Nothing's more soothing than blue waves moving! IMHO.

Funny, just read an article about Hong Kong and that killer typhoon beating up the mainland North of them... they said, "We got concrete homes, you got wood ones, we're fine.."

Still, the buildings on my property were made from old big beams, with lots of studs per foot (oddly, Tom's NG HQ has some very impressive steel beams holding up his second floor, and very close together too).

Haha, ok then, maybe it wouldn't stand a fighting chance after all! You mean wooden beams? Or girders?

Awesome job, dude! And welcome back!

Thanks man!

Yay.

Woo.

Nah, my old farm has wood and iron spikes holding things up, along with terra cotta bricks and regular red bricks. Lots of building material back then were scavenged from other buildings, like the stair case in the farmhouse dates back to the 1800's.

Huh, iron spikes? Not nails? Is that something similar to the metal reinforcement nets used in concrete? Whaddayaknow, an antique staircase! How does it look? Where's it from?

I've always thought houses with history are all the more interesting to live in. The house we have up North used to be initially inhabited by woodcutters; eleven of them slept in the bedroom at most, and in the neighboring house lived a cook who cooked for them. After people in the forests were made abundant, farmers took over. They took up a lot of trees by hand and plowed up the fields we still have. The first family went bankrupt and had the house taken from them, so it was sold on auction to another family of farmers. They had the place for a while; eventually sold it to an older couple. One of them was chief over some form of road construction plan, and managed to fetch a few old timbered buildings that might've been in the way of carnage, probably at low or no cost. They also added a second floor to the main house; drew in electricity and a phoneline, among other things. One of the reasons they sold the place was a break-in where the thieves had taken virtually everything of value, even the doors between rooms (old, wooden, probably valuable doors). The other reason was they were getting to old to take care of it. We drew in water when we moved in, added fridge and washing machine, etc. There's still an original wooden stove; an old electrical one beside it. Hmm, that turned into a chunk of history... are you interested in reading stuff like this btw?

I applause*encore*

Aye, applause!

Haha, why yes, that was quite an enjoyable tale! The farmhouse I'm in is less than a century old, and has been in the family since it was put up. My fathers mother made moonshine to help pay for things during the depression, as well as raise and slaughter pigs and sheep. Sounds like your Northern home had quite a long history!

Glad to hear it! A A lot has happened indeed, but not over such a long span of years, just a bit more than a century. From now on it seems the tale won't be as interesting. :)

How did your farm initially start? Do you know who built what/bought what/did what before then?

so who watches over your summer house and crops while your family isnt there?

There are no crops when my family isn't there, they just grow over the summer. Granted, there's a lot of weeding to be done every spring... As for the house, the neighbors are there pretty much every weekend, at least, all year round. If they're not there's nobody to watch the place! But it's not like anybody can reach it during the winter, they'd have to plow up a pretty long stretch of road to get down to the yard.

i heard you haven't seen the big lebowski jesus christ dude

brb watching the big lebowski...

Biological angel?

Yup, thought of you.

Cop Killer Madness makes you think of me? :P Thanks for the thought though, I saw it late night but didn't feel like reviewing, maybe fate wants otherwise...

Edit: Ah, the DOOM music! Nice. :D

i had aloe water the other day...good stuff! taste like the vitamin water drink.

Nice. I guess I should taste a vitamin water drink some day. :)

not a vitamin water drink, vitamin water is what it's actually called. i know, not very creative lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitaminwater#VitaminWater

oh, it's actually one word. is that available in Sweden?

Haha, it's like having a brand named Water. I do mix vitamins with water occasionally, what should I call that? :P Hmm, water with vitamins, vitamins and water. The bottles do seem familiar so we probably do have them here, but I haven't tasted any. There definitely aren't as many flavors as Wikipedia lists though... flavor XXX?! Hmm...

Yeah, Terry made DECORATE entry with over 20000 lines of code. 18 scripts, MAPINFO, SOUNDINFO, ANIMDEFS, and so on.

Woah... a lot of code!
