Ahh those 'News' posts! I skimmed the newsposts. :P They should probably change that to blogs or something hmm. Well, that 'hopefully not a forever feature' doesn't sound quite as promising, but I hope so too! This one thing's bugging me more than pretty much all the other bugs I've found before... they're never usually in such prominent areas for longer durations of time.

Well, you can always respond to Tom's comment, just copy and paste what you just wrote, it's not that old a comment. You're probably the best blogger on and off this site, your opinion should be known...

I did create a complaint thread about a week or two after the switch, in Where is/How to (and since then /Help!) that went to maybe 2 pages. with only Liljim (for) and brentheman (against) among the staff responding... 2-3 mods were with me, 1 indifferent/for the change.

Mmm yes indeed, I shall do that... thanks, I don't know about best blogger, but once upon a time I was the most blogger, at least. ;)

That's the topic I was referring to with the "Since he never posted in the topic about it.." part. ;) I posted there quite a bit too, you know?

Ah don't be so humble, you're a crackin' blogger :)

You did post int hat thread? Good... only wish a few more people did, but having it in Where is/How to seemed a safe place to post it :\

I'm humbled man! ;)

Yeah, you even responded on one of those posts! Do wish the staff-response overall would've had more of a "we shall strive to make this a place in which users thrive and find affinity! If yall have a problem, we shall do our best to fix it" than a "that's your problem" attitude. But yeah, response overall was positive, as in: negative towards the change so... as long as they pick up the issue... I notice the wi/ht has been slightly renamed btw, now with the added 'Help!'

Yeah, they added "Help!" just before my complaint thread petered out. I don't mind causing a stir, so long as it properly accommodates the membership. Every time I go to a news article or personal page elsewhere (even in GTA V the LifeInvader posts are newest to oldest!), I'm reminded how few tools we have here, aside from Project Manager and the social feed stuff.

Mmm, it does seem like the default sorting order on a lot of places, including most of the social giants NG competes with, like YT and DA, Reddit eh... others. Did a comparison on sorting orders on some of these other sites in that topic. Yeah, the ability to customize even the most minor details really adds a sense of freedom and dynamism to a community! Wish it was easier to implement all the little things, and some gadgets like a personal notepad. the secrets, filters for toggling/searching files and submissions... control panel perks that build upon that illusion of a personal space. Would be really cool with two-step authorization and account backup as well, but not really hoping on those latter two, seems a bit expensive/complex...

All the bells and whistles you mentioned are standard these days. I asked a little while after the redesign, if they couldn't just use off-the-shelf code to improve things... good question for Liljim, I never did ask.

I did ask about that two-step-authorization thing recently, that was a no go. I think I've brought up account backup as well, but don't remember what the consensus was there, probably negative. I've suggested search filters way back, and the notepad thing was in my public wishlist back in 2008, amongst many other things (some that did see the light of day! list is here if you're interested: http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/856028/1 ) . So yeah... I do love this place, but I wish they were more eager to implement suggestions, especially in parts where it really matters, like account security.

Congrats you came a long way!

And still going! Thanks.

Wow, that's some thread/wish list. Really. Makes the one I'm working on, pale in comparison.
After I get my list typed up, I should PM it to you for additions/deletions... hadn't considered putting it in Wi/Ht, but on my post, hmm

Oh, you're working on one too! Would definitely be fun to take a look once it's done. Plenty of new ideas since 2008, like these I recently jotted down for some potential future version:

- Comment order reversed again (like how it should be!)
- Stats for amount of reviews on your own submissions under public stats (ability to make public via account page)
- Changelog for new features
- Suggestion to favorite submission if you vote 5 on it.
- Obituary bugs fixed
-- duplicate date string, ex 'month=4&day=18&year=2009'
-- php extension visible
-- author responses not visible
- Ability to make favorites private

Yeah I posted that one on my blog too, but didn't get near as much feedback as via the wi/ht. Wonder if one of those posts would be as popular today though.. one advantage of this new age of leisurely-paced activity is: staff seem to be keeping an eye on that place too (and responding!). Official feedback feedback's always pretty neat.

You're probably a good deal more sane and respected than I am, how about if I send you my list, add the appropriate elements to your own list? I'll back any play you make ;)

I'm off to play GTA V... they say it's shorter than previous GTA's, more multiplayer oriented, but I'm happy! They really did listen to the fans, by making missions repeatable (after a mission, you get a checklist and % rating), having the old rampages back, stats are harder to increase, not as many tractors on the rural roads... can't say I like the in-game stock market, but it beats nothing at all... haven't found anyplace to gamble yet.

Well I don't know about more sane and/or respected, but whichever way you'd like to do it is fine by me! :) Hadn't planned on posting my wishlist for a while though, it's still so concise and easy to read...

From all I've seen and heard so far, it looks pretty good! I feel like I'll be missing some of the stats they had back in SA, all those unnecessary but fun RPG-like elements where you had to eat and work out, gain stamina, learn to drive, etc. Good to hear rampages are back though, been missing far too long!

Oh. Well....yeah it still applies then haha. I should be hitting 15k today. Only 3 posts away....

Eh maybe. But not necessarily. I have plenty of none metal albums with exactly 10 or intervals of 5 tracks in em. But I can see what you mean though.
And yeah it can be haha. As for stats elsewhere. On here I used to have this thing where I always wanted my posts "for the day" to end with a 0. So I always ended up making myself continue to post later than I planned so I could get to the next interval or 10. I stopped doing that now and don't really care too much how many posts I make a day. Though I used to get somewhere between 20-30 a day back between like 2012-2013. Then last year and so far this year I've slowed down my posting and now just post 90% of the time when I don't have to work that day. And from now til summertime that'll be probably only 2 days a week. Summer time I'm getting 3 at a minimum.
It might be. I don't really know.
I'll admit that I've done that at least once or twice before...

Looks like you reached it! Congrats! :D

Mmm, there's probably a formula you could make for counting out the increased probability of metal albums having exactly ten tracks considering how metal tracks tend to be longer than many other genres, ten seems to be a traditional trademark socially acceptable track record number and... who knows what plays in! I'm sure intervals of 5 aren't uncommon across genres though, but 10 in particular. Btw, random article that seems somewhat relevant: http://www.au.timeout.com/sydney/timein/features/11989/why-all-albums-should-only-be-ten-tracks-or-less

If you posted no posts they'd end with 0. ;) (though, glad you're not following that principle!) Yeah, I'm posting less and less too. Did you have work before, when you were the most active? Less work? It really eats up time... hmm, maybe the unnecessary revisionary routine isn't as rare as I thought. :)

except it will be more than a hundred days because you go on long vacations lol

Hah yeah, it'll be a hundred NG days. :P

so when does your summer filled with Swedish farmer humor officially start anyway...holy crap its that time again

End of June, probably, still need to book the ticket. I was thinking it'd be just after the grand NG Anniversary thing, but apparently only the collab deadline(s) is Jun 21, official event's a few days into vacati9on time. :/ Man! Time! Plan to at least upload that 'After Summer Time' remix thing before I leave, very very after... btw, any summer plans yourself?

what is the "after summer time" remix?

nope, just another summer of franking school/work lol...hopefully the last one before I move on to bigger things. may go to the carribean afterwards in late july/early august but who knows

Ohh you haven't heard it? I thought I'd sent you a preview earlier, it's another recording I did over that beat for that 'Summer Stuff' one. I'll send an invite...

Hmm how do you spend your winters? :P A Caribbean break sounds great though, cool breeze flushing away all problems...

oh yeah, that!! I forgot you called the remix "after summer time/stuff". Wasn't I supposed to cut down the chorus section in the instrumental because it was too long?? amongst other stuff. what about Kungsangen & Back/Subtle Chimes and Mirage of Life/Mind is a Sandbox/Week 2

it will be around 90 degrees Fahrenheit in the Carribbean, although that's about 20 degrees less than it is here, so I guess it's cool relatively speaking lol

Oh, there were plans? I thought I had a full track planned on that... and this was just like a quick thing before that? I did get a new longer version of this beat a while ago hmm... well, bad memory. The Kungsängen & Back thing's planned for revision! Or wait, I meant Week 2/Mirage of Life/though I should upload the other version here too, was pretty good. Kungsängen & Back didn't sync I think? Could maybe send the beat for leet reviseets? Suddle Chimes is done? Mirage of Life/Mind is a Sandbox full track still on square one, Diamond Rimz ready for revising, unfinished verses on most of those other beats too! Yeah! Things to do! :D

Hot! But it's Cool cause it's the Carribbean. :P

lol so much confusion!! sorry, my fault.

"After Summer time/Stuff" = that remix you were talking about below, well I suppose it's good as is but from previous discussion (namely a PM from Oct 12) there was some suggestion on trimming down the chorus of the instrumental so it matches the lyrics more. I never sent or finished the "skeleton track" though...

"Week 2/Mirage of Life/Mind is a Sandbox" = the same thing...Week 2 is the lyrical content I used for the original beat (and IMO should be used in the "complete" version?) which I originally entitled Mirage of Life, but I think another cool, appropriate title (that was initially used for the aforementioned track(s) which became the "Summer" collection) would be the "Mind is a Sandbox" and could perhaps inspire additional lyrical ideas?? what do you think?? oh yeah, should probably make a full version of that track too, since I'm petitioning for a full track lol. Perhaps we should lay down a lyrical structure before I finish the beat?? what do you think??

"Kungsangen & Back/Subtle Chimes" = same thing, Kungsangen & Back is the title of your lyrical content, Subtle Chimes is the name of the beat, the name which I stole from you lol but with corrected spelling. Did you spell it suddle on purpose btw, where you tricked by stupid English and there silent letters...oh yeah, need to finish that track too lol...

Make sense?? Basically, a bunch of unfinished verses (or verses you finished that I would prefer to be appended into longer songs) on unfinished beats lol...

Haha no worries man.

"After Summer time/Stuff" = If it's really bugging you we could definitely make some changes, but I'd be fine submitting as is... maybe just tone down the ad-libs a bit first...

"Week 2/Mirage of Life/Mind is a Sandbox" = So the 'Mirage of Life' wasn't a full beat! I understood it as if it was aimed only at that Week 2 verse (which I have yet to revise), and later recorded that Week 14 verse with (which would be good to submit I think?). The 'Mind is a Sandbox' beat used for tracks above I do have bigger plans for, a more fuller, imaginative, less entirely-summer themed piece of lyricism, I started such a verse but that's far from finished. A full 'Mirage of Life' track would be cool too, though as for lyrical structure I really have no idea right now, if you feel like working on it before I start writing on it any structure would be fine, so far these beats have all been easy to write to.

"Kungsangen & Back/Subtle Chimes" = Ahh. I never did get the name of the beat on this one I think. ;) That Suddle thing might have been a typo at the time but... now I'd better just play like it's intentional. :P There's been a bunch of words that I just never learned to spell right, like definately, sais (as in says), and eh... well there's probably others, can't recall more right now. Anyway, full beat would be cool! Or just that beat as is? Could try doing something with that too/revising the verse/something.

Yeah, and there's a few more you sent earlier I started on but still haven't finished! Soon as I make something more final with some of these I assume confusion levels will dissipate quickly. ;) Should get started soon! This is the stuff I enjoy working with too, makes no sense I keep stalling with it...

Oh you started working on a third track with that same beat? thought you would have gotten tired of it, lol. That's cool though, and even flattering to a certain degree hehe...I'm fine with whatever you upload, the only reason I may be hesitant personally, and it's not that big of a deal but it regards potential listeners, if they hear the same beat again, they may be more likely to skip to another track. New lyrics, different beat. Or different beat, new lyrics. Though the same beats and compositions are reused all the time in the professional music realm so...and there's always small nuances that could be made to give each track it's unique customization...

I guess it wasn't! As I decided now! That is if the whole Mirage of Life or name TBA is going to be extended...it could always just be week 2 + week 14...still want to put that reverb FX on the backing vocal like was in the original...

okay, good knowing. Oh forget to respond to your mention of Diamond Rimz...GOT DAMN synching problems...seems like a yearly attempt LOL (started in 2013...time fliesss fasssstt...I got a glass of cider, thirst quencher provider)

Well it's an awesome beat! :) Valid concerns though... shouldn't matter with the Summer Remix considering... it's a remix, but the big one... well, we shall see, maybe it won't be so difficult to give it that new nuance you speak of!

Week 2 + week 14 hmm, interesting idea... not sure how they'd fit together, being written at different times, with different theorems and all, but I'll give it a try! I suppose the same concerns as above apply with the Week 14 track getting uploaded before the full thing btw? Or would the extended version be acceptably much new and different?

Hehe yeah, it's been too long! And with such a good song! Random cider reference there or you really have a glass of cider to replenish the hellish pellets perspired? :P I'm drinking a cup of tea currently, and a glass of water with magnesium sealed for healing appeal, after concealing a meal as I steal a lunch hour, devour all lethally as I feed on chili, chopper style, like a fire-breathing emcee!

Congrats. Only 8 more!

Just a hundred days for each one. :P Thanks!

Thanks!!

Yer right, stylistically week 2 and 14 wouldn't mesh too well together...and it's not like songs should be made longer for the sake of being made longer, it's much better to publish a short track with listeners yearning for more, than making a track that's too long and ends up boring the listeners or becomes a chore to listen to in full. But then again, excluding video game and soundtrack like pieces- any song less than 3 minutes usually feels incomplete IMO...

lol you don't recognize your own lyrics?? but I do have some cider in the fridge thanks for asking...made with honeycrisp apples...hell yeah...but I probably shouldn't pour my self a glass as I've exceeded my carbohydrate intake for the day...looks like this time I'm going to have to make a saccharifice...

speaking of that, uploaded a completed Subtle Chimes beat (in the hip hop folder in Movies) with the following structure:
- Intro (8 bars)
- Pre-Verse (4 bars- lyrics started here "I sit back on my @ss...")
- Verse (16 bars)
- "Drop"/Chorus/(16 bars- this part is new, sounds Asian...Kyoto & Back?)
- Verse (16 bars)
- Guitar solo (16 bars)
- "Drop"/Chorus/ (16 bars)
- End

True true, though I feel musical (master)pieces don't need many a minute to feel solid and substantial, though admittedly maybe not really like a complete song. Just... complete. The 'Ball and Chain' track on Yelawolf's last album felt like a verse that was just left as it was, on Tech N9nes latest album there were a couple of pretty great tracks just under 3 minutes that just felt intense, no filler, perfectly OK lengthwise... Toto's 'Child's Anthem' was under 3 and just perfect, Tenacious D masterpieces such as Explosivo and Dio are barely two, I have no other examples in mind right now but it feels like length is all secondary, though 3-4 must be a norm for some reason hmm, maybe that's the time it takes for the brain to... do something specifical.

Course I do (it's Kungsängen & Back fo shizzle)! I thought maybe it was said in relevance rather than at random man. ;)

That sounds like some pretty delicious cider! What's your carbohydrate cap? Are you always on a limiter?

Wow. Just wow. Such much ambiance and Asian sound it astounds, and I love that solo. I started writing right away, though it's late night, I stood today for eight hours straight so my feet ache and mind sways like... I can't too great write. Sounds great though. Btw, around 0:40 it seems the volume mysteriously drops a little? Intentional?

Even more truth...I would definitely agree length is of secondary importance. don't think I've heard those btw...I can't think of any appropriate ideas to lengthen Mirage of Life without looping the track over so maybe it should stay as is. Although I've been working on an outro that has a rock groove...

well if you take a common hip hop BPM (let's say 90 BPM), and use a fairly standard structure (32 bars total for verses, 24 bars total for choruses, and maybe 16 bars total for intro, outro, and interlude) to make a 'complete' song- that's 72 bars overall...99% of hip hop songs are in 4/4, so 72 bars*4 beats = 288 beats...288 beats * 1 minute/90 Beats = 3.2 minutes...

lol, no carbohydrate cap. though I have just a general idea of when I'm eating too much fruit, candy and confections, sugary juices, etc. I mainly said that so I could throw that pun in there. Saccharide is yet another scientific term for sugar/carbohydrates.

Cool, glad you like it. Working all day?? Good ears! Never even noticed that. It appears I accidentally doubled the backing pads for 4 measures (right after the guitar wah till 0:40). The rhythm of the backing pads there is slightly muddled too, subtle though because it's just ambiance. I'll remove that in the next version...

Mmm. Current length would work fine for me, with or without outro. Making shorter verses like this is pretty fun, though I'd understand if you want to make something more complete with masterful melodies like this!

Ah, good math. The standard must have existed before hiphop though, I suppose they just borrowed the common length at the time..

I'll make that saccharifice soon as I tackle the pies that are packed in our shrine, live the life, it's a gamble and scramble for the carbohydes and cargo they try to hide and then... then you die. :P Was probably thinking of Saccharin btw, so similar to Saccharide. Saccharide actually sounds like the more dangerous alternative of the two hmm where do I get such preconceptions...

Yeah, all day packing and stacking crates! Back feels like I could use a break from backbreaking fates today, probably not proper lifting of weights, I need to get in shape! Control alt Escape.

Almost done with GTA V's storyline, and can still go back and do things differently, or play missions again :) New buyer popped up.. actually, he was waiting in the wings, letting someone else see how low we'd go on price... due to leave (again) in less than a month.

Ah man, sounds like you've been gaming pretty hardcore, slaying dark forms in this parkour park gore artform of car lore! How many hours did it all take?

So... no buyer after all? Strange property like that isn't selling better... how easy is it to get land of your own over there in the US? Any particular places were ground prices are so incredibly low that even a normal person could walk in and buy some slice of nice life in the risesun horizon?

No clue, gotta add up 3 different character's times.. just under 100 hours I'd guess.

Again, not sure what this new buyer will do, but he's been watching, even before the last buyer pulled out. Yeah, you can buy land cheap - no utilities, dirt road access, 2 hours to get anywhere...

A fair share of hours there! :O

Ah, then I hope for the best! Fingers crooked. As for cheap land, what would you consider cheap?
