yeah there's a lot of subthreads here...

RE: infinity
Quite right, the radius cannot be a repeating decimal or non-repeating decimal as such a concept cannot be attributed to infinity lol

RE: tetrapod meat
I guess there's some inconsistency in reasoning behind what is considered taboo or not...primates may not to be hunted due to their level of intelligence, but then again people still hunt birds, cows, and pigs which are generally considered to smarter than dogs. Maybe it's the level of intimacy and genetic closeness man shares with a certain animal...For the former, dogs and cats are house pets, people use horses for transportation, so such is taken off the dinner menu....are your parents and siblings pescaterians too?

RE: insect cuisine
Never tried bugs, not against it. Proper treatment of ants, that's an interesting topic. Not sure bugs deserve any moral rights...they act on instinct, often carry disease, and reproduce extremely fast. not to say I encourage holding up a magnifying glass on them during a sunny day...There are groups that find silk production a violation of silkworm rights.

RE: extra time
Oh cool...any time to re-record Diamond Rimz at your friend's recording studio?? or work on another hip hop project??

RE:

Yeah, an ocean of subthreads to dive into!

RE: tetrapod meat
That "dog is mans best friend" is probably one of many culprits in creating this canine closeness... though I can't imagine they had the same closeness back when there were only wolfs, hyenas, dingos, all them wild dogs. Yeah, pets do get their privileges, but at the same time a lot of farm animals are considered 'pets' as long as they're alive, if they live under humane conditions, but most still get slaughtered eventually. Well my mom followed suite when they decided to make me a Pescatarian way back when (curing them allergies), and we never eat or have any meat at home, but the rest of the family are omnivores.

RE: insect cuisine
Mmm, insects do seem somewhat unequipped with things like sympathy. I watched some documentary about unlikely animal friends, ducks and cats, dogs and lions, etcetc... started wondering if the same thing'd be possible with insects. Even if they don't have the same thought patterns, emotions, ability to reason etc... maybe not even ability to feel pain, they still shouldn't be intentionally tortured. Speaking of the magnifying glass here, not sure silk worm production classes as that, it's just like chickens and eggs. Respect for all living things though.

RE: extra time
Oh yeah, we definitely need to make a finished version of that! I mean eh, I need to get to recording it. Don't know how that studio thing'll work out, but it's not impossible to at home either. Sure, I'd like to do many more! Though maybe first what's set in store.

RE: carnivorous sustenance at your house
So do you just live with your mom then? Or does your dad and other relatives that live at your house just eat meat at restaurants, or when such opportunity presents itself? I think I remember you saying your brother and sister are older and married, so they live with their spouses correct? P.S. it's a shame you'll never get to experience the glory of beef jerky..

RE: insects & moral rights & eggs
I agree, respect for all living...except for forms of deadly GOT DAMN bacteria. and cancer cells...and crop pests...No, obtaining silk from silk worms is not the same as taking the eggs from a chicken. Supposedly an efficient (or common) way to obtain silk is to boil a living silk worm while it's in its cocoon stage. I take it you still eat eggs right? Seeing how eggs are a main ingredient in mayonnaise.

RE: musical endeavors
Oh, in a PM from October you mentioned that you had access to a friend's studio and were going to record there to get a better quality take? Either way, I still have your files so you don't need to re-record unless you wanted to give it another shot!

RE: terrestial-bound creatures with wings
Oh, I forgot to address this below...in an earlier content you mentioned how in unregulated hunting practices specifically dog companions that trample grounded bird nests...do you know what species of birds in your area lays eggs on the ground? In my area the only nests to my knowledge are constructed in trees. There was a hummingbird nest in my yard the other day...I could put a single hand around it if tried!! and I have small hands

RE: carnivorous sustenance at your house
Nah, I live home with both my parents. Right now I'm living solo though, they're up North since about a month back, living that wild wildlife life! My dad greedily eats meat whenever the opportunity presents itself, whenever we're at guests who serve it; probably at restaurants too... he never really adapted, not with this or with a lot of other things, but that's another topic. My siblings probably eat less meat than he does, even if they aren't forced to comply. :) Well they're not married, but they both have partners. lmao, actually tasted beef jerky by accident once, back in 7th grade I was always borrowing food from classmates, and one was eating some type of sticks I thought were dried bananas. It wasn't bananas man!

RE: insects & moral rights & eggs
Ah yeah, bacteria cross the line. Man that thing about boiling sounds pretty villainous, hope all the shirts I wear didn't claim too much pain and loss of life. Yeah, I eat eggs. As long as the chickens are treated OK it's all good, we've had some of our own for a few years too; probably will again later on.

RE: musical endeavors
Yeah, I did, I went there back when I said that.. or soon after. Either way, on that specific day the studio equipment just would not work. Turned out it was a faulty cable, but he didn't figure that out until I'd left, after a few hours of desperately searching for the error since he had a student coming in right after (he teaches instruments and stuff). If it had worked at that point this would've been done back then! :/ It's kinda far away though, and he's kinda a busy person... we'll see, I'd like to just buy up something myself and start recording from home if it's not too expensive. Plugging in my good mic causes a hella much static though. My cheap one doesn't, but that one has pretty shitty sound. I'm thinking it might be that little adapter thing, even though it seems to be gold-plated (and thus I'm guessing good quality). Do you know anything about that type of thing? Hmm, did I really do a 'final' recording with the voice recorder? I think I just sent over a draft. Could you upload that file; send link for previewing?

RE: terrestial-bound creatures with wings
A few that do: willow warblers, blackbirds, yellohammers, wagtails, pheasants, capercaille... there are more, but I don't know the names. Most of them are really hard to spot if you don't accidentally step on them. Some build their nests in the middle of fields, some on riverbanks, some can build both in trees and on the ground depending on mood/safety. A lot of people probably don't know that ground nests are common, but hunters... you'd think they should know quite a bit about flora and fauna. Oh, hummingbirds are awesome! :D We don't have them here, but I remember them from abroad. So small!

RE: Home Alone NG edition
Ahh...so your parents had to start the vacation without you because of school and work commitments? Did the same thing happen to you last year? I wasn't able to vacation last year because of summer-long school...I didn't mind though as family vacations just aren't enjoyable anymore

RE: from beef to bananas
lol how do you confuse a dried banana with beef jerky?? Did you end up spitting it out? I've heard cases of non-meat eaters eating meat for the first time after several years, and becoming sick. Perhaps it wouldn't be that big of a deal if you still eat fish though. Surprised the glory of beef jerky didn't convert you all the same...

RE: home studios
heh, it's all good man..never knew about that. I don't have much experience with recording with mics...but it sounds like you may be connecting your microphone directly through the line output or microphone jack on your PC? Perhaps your mic is picking up internal noise from the PC. For this reason people often use a phantom powered audio interface that they plug their microphone into, which then sends the audio back to the PC via USB or firewire. Audio interfaces are generally inexpensive relatively speaking, i've seen them as low as $50; i have a focusrite scarlett 2i which I got for $100. You could also try air cleaning your jack and docking inputs, and eliminate any other electrical sources as the microphone can pickup feedback....Even monitors themselves can cause static. I rarely record but I know when I have my T.V. on there is a higher or noticeable level of static. With that in mind, my recording would involve an electric guitar that has a pickup(s), not sure if the same would apply to a microphone recording, but it wouldn't hurt to see if that makes any difference. I think you sent me the finished version, or a near finished version of vocals, just in time before you left last summer. I then made a more or less final mix, but we decided that I should redo it in some parts, as I made your vocals too echoey. Let me reforward the PM...I believe the file should still be on NG

RE: Nordic avian ecology
Ahh, interesting, never considered all that. Since I live in desert terrain, there's no grass and meadows to hide from potential predation, so nests are found in trees. Even roadrunners, as their name may make obvious spend the majority of the time on the ground, but build

RE: Home Alone NG edition
Yupp, they've been doing so for a few years now, ever since dad retired, which is eh... five years ago. Oh, any vacation this year? For me these vacations are more than just vacations though, it's not a time to just relax and do nothing, it's a time to get back in shape, work hard, go on adventures, get back to my roots; enjoy life! And soak in a lot of sunshine cause winters here are pretty dark. It's much needed variation from sitting here maniacally typing. Even if I like typing. Especially maniacally (I get these rare occasional bursts of intense efficiency).

RE: from beef to bananas
Heh, dried bananas actually look a whole lot like beef jerky. :) Yeah, I spit it out, waste of good food but that was just bananas! lol, maybe meat's just not my thing. I believe different people need more of certain edibles than others, some barely eat any vegetables at all, and vice versa, not everyone is cut out for the same lifestyle. As for getting sick from eating meat, that makes sense, don't know if I would've gotten sick from beef jerky in particular but I can imagine something like blood pudding or steak would have such an effect, even if I do eat fish.

RE: home studios
Yeah, directly via that line output. Hmm, I'll look into that. The scarlett 2 looks pretty cool, specially those LED halos. My sister has an Inspire 1394 I can borrow, but I can't plug in my microphones, it seems I need an XLR cable for it, the one I have has a XLR3 socket for the mic and a 6.35 mm plug. Just ordered one of those so maybe that'll work. (did some looking around; reading just now) I have no idea if the Mic supports phantom power btw, do you know if there's any danger in enabling it if it doesn't? Interface seems to have a setting for it. Monitor as in... speakers?? Different words for the same thing, or is a monitor somehow different than a regular speaker? Alright, thanks in advance!

RE: Nordic avian ecology
Ah, makes sense. Do birds ever build nests in cacti over there? What about palm trees?

RE: out of characters due to making titles
oops hehe...blame Tom for shortening the comment space

RE: Nordic (and desert) avian ecology II
-build their nests above ground. On the contrary, you would think building a nest on the ground would provide more shade, which would be more necessary in the desert, and less necessary in Sweden? Yeah, I'd imagine the grounded nests would be hard to see at first, as something out in the open would need to be camouflaged to a certain degree. Hmm...perhaps this a subject I can explore for graduate research...why some birds build nest on the ground despite being able to fly? All those birds you listed excluding the capercaillie can fly after all. I was expecting you to list large, awkward birds. Where you able to name those birds of the top of your head btw? Quite impressive..

He shortened the comment space?! :O

Didn't see these two newer messages till just now. Anyway: indeed, shade is probably not something the birds need more of here, though at least birdhouses can get pretty hot if they're on the wrong spot. I think it has more to do with camouflage. It's easier for avian predators to spot a nest in a tree than somewhere deep down in the brush, though there are definitely other rodents roaming around who'd eat a grounded bird easier than an airborne one. Guess it's a gamble either way. Would be an interesting read! :D I didn't know you had any interest in birds! I had to resort to Google translate for all of them, but yeah, those were the ones I know! :)

Oh...check your projects, dig deep down lol. The .mp3 should be on "Diamond Rimz (remix)"

Woot, I'm on it!

Well, that's what vacations used to truly be about!! I'm guilty of not following suit but..vacations and off days were originally designed for taking a break from school/work, to lend an extra hand on the farm and do house maintenance, and chores and such. But now, it's all about getting drunk and doing stupid things with friends!! and buying dumb shit and overindulging...pretty much a capitalist orgy...that's why America has so many holidays lol. Hey, but again, guilty here, not so much on the overindulging part; I plan so much for self-betterment on my off days, only to become lazy as fuck and develop bad habits lol. I kinda miss summer school actually lol. This is the first free summer I've had since 2010

I feel you..it sure is nice to take a break from technology once in a while. That would never happen on my own volition while I'm at home lol..hmm, my parents will probably try to cram a short vacation to california or something somewhere..

heh, still not seeing the similarity between dried banana and beef jerky...sometimes dried bananas are light brown...but they would still smell quite different.

the inspire 1394 sounds like a solid device!! why does your sister have one btw, does she rap too lol or what does she record? What microphone do you have exactly? You couldn't plug in your microphones to the 6.35 mm instrument port on the inspire? How did you get to work on your computer then lol..Although with that said, perhaps your microphone was not meant to transfer a signal that way (although I don't see why it would be a problem if it's converted correctly)...the scarlett has a hybridized XLR and 6.35 mm dock so you can plug either type of input it, but the microphones that are sometimes bundled with the interface come with an XLR cord, specifically to be used with the microphone. (6.35s are typically used for electric instruments or other electronic interfaces) Ehh, not sure about the exact power distribution to be honest. Assuming microphone doesn't have batteries (if so you remove them before recording) with the device I don't think there should be any damage that could be done (such as excessive voltage).

Ahh yeah, birds build nests on cactii and palm trees all the time! In fact the state bird in Arizona is the cactus wren. Some birds burrow in them too. No predator's going to want to go by that! I suppose the birds easily avoid the needles

Ah, true that, it's not just about my roots then, it's about the roots of vacationing as well! The very essence of 'taking a break'! Physical rather than mental labor for a change. And it is a bit of a farm we have, without the animals: crops, fish, berries and all that. There's time for artistry too, plenty to paint! Houses. You know the drill. Useful when timbering, but it's easier with fresh wood. Hah, yeah, I don't get lured into that consumptional craze! At least... not on vacation. Somehow it's a bit more tempting to buy things when you're sitting indoors, surrounded by boatloads of old junk. Weird. Woah, been a long time since the last vacation then!!

At least a short vacation devoid of all technology then? If we had a computer up North, I'd be sitting by it. Definitely. It's good we don't; I don't want anything portable that I might on impulse bring with me.

I've never tried light brown dried bananas! Guess there are different types. Yeah hmm, the smell should be a tell, I might have been too hungry and impatient to properly analyze my food.

She sings. :) You can listen to a couple of songs here if you like: http://maudaxell.com/

I designed the site btw! I tried the 6.35 mm, but that didn't work (nothing happened). My better mic is a Pro 2 DM-468, this one: http://www.wce.net.au/products/PRO2-PURE-VOCAL-MICROPHONE-%3A-DM%252dS468.html

I have a 6.35 to 3.3mm adapter that I tried via that line output, also a crappy mic that connects directly via 3.3mm. I don't get much static with that one, but the sound quality's not much better than my voice recorder anyway. Good knowing: no batteries.

You must have some tough birds over there! I'd have thought the nests would've been too visible on either one of those.

Yeah, Tom reduced the comment space by like 50% four years ago or so...perhaps to cut down spam, although that hasn't been a problem for a while now, other than: FREE ZURBOIG

guess that means I'm going to have cut down on my excessive usage of periods........

Oh sure, I'm interested in birds, in fact all animals as I'm interested in evolutionary biology. Particularily, how flight has arose in different species...in insects, reptiles, birds of course and even one species of mammal (bats)...Weren't you studying dinosaurs at one point, btw? Did you know that birds are the living descendant of said group?

Interesting thing about cactii here, is there's a joke law about getting 25 years in prison for stealing one (also the max for second degree murder)...although, you can get up to 3 years which is still pretty crazy!! Although in all seriousness you would probably just be fined a few thousand. Now that we are on the subject...what is your opinion on the criminal punishment and regulation in Sweden?? Seems like a stark contrast from the prison system here in the U.S...the prisons over there look, I daresay comforting, probably to emphasize rehabilitation, something that is neglected here. But then again, I think most people would say we put too much money into the jail system...so the rooms remain bare, small, and overcrowded. Criminals are more or less forced into labor here, and make about .001% of the minimum wage while doing so. The relapse rates are high, in many states court files and prison records are made public, sexual offenders have current pictures and personal information posted publicly for the rest of their life, capital punishment is practiced in several states (and often takes decades to follow suit), even in the county I live in, the sheriff has polls for the mugshot of the day on his website...WTF? All this only ends up sensationalizing crime (and expands his budget, perhaps).

Oh, that far back huh. I don't think I ever wrote this long comments back then! I guess it saves space in the database though, especially if people posts lots of short comments, in that each comment, regardless of if they use up the max character amount or not, is stored in a database field of a certain amount of bits (equivalent to those maximum characters alloted). Same with PMs and everything. Btw, did you know that messages in sentbox don't count towards your limit? Oh yeah, FREE ZURBOIG

Guess so....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Nice. Yupp, just a short course on Dinos though, but that much I remember! It's pretty cool they're all descendants of the ancients, along with lizards and alligators and eh... other breeds... what's the largest wild animal you have over there btw?

Does that apply to any type of Cacti? What about eating parts of them, or just getting the sap?

Yeah, the prisons here are too comfortable. In fact, they are so comfortable I'm surprised we even have beggars; that they don't just go kill or hurt someone so they'll get locked up. It goes to show most beggars are part of the syndicate. Also because: if they are flat-out broke, and Swedish citizens, they can get help if they just contact the authorities. But back to the prisons: I read an article a couple of years back about how they serve better food than public schools. Prisoners get to watch TV, play games, read the papers, relax and take it easy... it's more of a resort than a correctional facility, as it's supposed to be. As for crime in the US, do you think there's some truth in the 'rumors' that the constant expansion is due to keeping the system alive rather than actually cutting down on crime? I just watched Ambushed (a fictional movie with a theme on corruption/drugs) from which I'ma cut in a small somewhat relevant quote here:

Let's be honest. This is a multi-billion dollar industry. Part of it is legal: abuse treatments, prevention costs, healthcare, DEA budgets, jails, morgues, etc. Only a small part is illicit. Less than 20%. Now, my question would be: is it really worth it to eradicate this trade? I don't think so, and I'm backed by the government. Do you have any idea how many people would lose their jobs if drugs weren't around? You think any administration would take that risk to increase the line at the unemployment office? Of course not. The 'War on Drugs' is just another opportunity to accentuate, the 'Big Scare'. Foreign cartels, Mexican smugglers, Russian mobsters. The message is simple: beware of the foreigners. America... how did you forget your origins? Don't you remember the melting pot? And, by the way, don't you know that the fastest growing drug in the last twenty years is meth? Meth. Pure, white trash. All this has nothing to do with morals and the wrong side of the law. It's all about economy. This is a business, and a better one than Wall Street.

Cocaine Cowboys 3 (documentary) was onto the same thing, was a bit of a revelation in how much corruption there is within the drug business, how drugs keep spreading and growing in popularity despite the government pouring more and more money into stopping it. It becomes a matter of keeping the arrest rates high to sustain a budget rather than to actually get rid of the source of the problem! Anyway, that's what Cocaine Cowboys 3 was getting at: inspiring watch.

I don't think the Swedish approach at prison is better though, I think society here is so 'tame' in comparison, in its values and morale, that crime rates are lower. People aren't taught to 'stand up and fight' or 'protect your freedom', gun laws aren't as lenient, police aren't as forceful (on the other hand they're not allowed to use force even when required, so they can't really deal with tough situations even if they do arise, which is another topic) and there's no calling for that 'American dream' - the quick money. I think it's the society that promotes crime, yet whereas the US is better at promoting crime, we are better at not doing anything about it, or punishing it. Except for filesharing cases apparently, where there's so much corruption and lobbying involved it's just sickening, people spreading files getting as long prison sentences as child molesters or rapists just to please Hollywood. Woah, link?

Hey where is my comment? XD, damn you guys yesterdat seem to have been quite productive.

Maybe i haven't tasted the finnier meals made with mayonnaise i know that it cant work, but that is just a rumor to me.
Yeah the way they hunt those sharks is just cruel.
Well i think that almost everyone has unknowingly eat an insect or 2 on his life while riding a round coughing and nothing comes out... or maybe there was a fly on the soup and you didn't notice... bu i am talking about them as prepared food and stuff, for the image that i have seen crickets seem to look quite well actually.

RE: tetrapod meat
Is this reply even relevant at this point? anyway i think that domesticatged animals have come to play a function other than just food, so we get to stop seeing them that way, but i have tried horse meat as hamburger as is not that bad, it taste like any other meat, not sure if it was worth the trouble, and well we all know that in some countries people eat cats and dogs, so is a matter of culture and what use you give to the animal. As for monkeys maybe is just bizzarre for us to eat something that looks like us, but hey! cannibalism has been a thing quite on our history, so what i am saying is, that deep down anything goes.

RE: insect cuisine
Never heard of Sociology of Arthropods? is quite the interesting topic, some ant and termite communities are surprisingly advanced if we could interact with them in a better way i wonder what things we could be able to do. My conclusion here is the same as Cyberdevil, even if insects didn't formed complex social relations, i stand for respect for all living things, we are the same thing at the end we die and hopefully something eats the cadaver.

RE: insects & moral rights & eggs
Indeed the handing of those silk worms is just wrongly done, as for eggs and other food i am ok with it if we are going to eat it, and in the case of the eggs we practically consume the whole thing.

RE: from beef to bananas
Lololololol, but on Mr CyberD. Evil and the de stands for defence, i will say that beef jerky is overrated so is understandable if he didn't enjoyed, i eat meat every now and then and beef jerky is on the lower part of tasty tasties.

Oh man the RE: topics disappeared!

Interesting that's quite the avian knowledge.

Mmh your roots, so you research your history and stuff? or just go to nature and interact?

Musician stuff!

lol, productive or procrastinating? :P

Mmm, if you tasted it the way it's meant to be used (IOW not just as is, in combination with other random ingredients) I'm sure you'd like it!

I don't think I've ever eaten a fly, but according to those fun facts floating around the net, the average human eats at least 8 spiders in their sleep throughout the course of their life. So, probably some other insects too. Yeah, I get that's what you meant, I was just mentioning that I haven't tried any prepared ingredients myself... yet. I'm all for it though. As for crickets, when I imagine eating one I just can't help imagine eating a living one, that's squirming around and chirping as it's crunched down on.... ugh, reality probably has a very different taste to it! :D

RE: tetrapod meat
Yeah, not much to say here but: I agree. I thought horse meat was a lot more common btw, apparently it's not legit food everywhere.

RE: insect cuisine
Oh, never heard of that no, interesting. Though termites and ants are somewhat similar. I wonder if it'd work across the different ¨'families' of insects. True that! Though as for my cadaver getting eaten, that's the one notion that makes me consider cremation. Though, the one notion that makes me not consider cremation is: what if you still feel even when you're read. But then again, getting eaten probably isn't a very pleasant feeling either...

RE: insects & moral rights & eggs
Consume the whole egg, shell and all? :P

RE: from beef to bananas
So there are more savorable animal tastes out there huh? Heh, I won't be tempted! ;)

Wutt? Where'd they go?!

Mmm, it's in the family.

Well actually I did do some research a few years back, or rather: I digitalized research my grandma had done, built up our family tree online and built upon it with new members. Interacting with nature is what I meant though! :) The Roots are great ya know.

Yeah!

RE: Prison (i am bringing these back...)
Mr CyberD your fascist tendencies have resurfaced, that's a typical unproductive vs productive mentality echoing from those movements, right i forgot you don't like the word... but it is just too damn on point man! XD.
That's one big quote! yeah it is business, but not one worth continuing, they can use that budget on other things, like education, science, the humanities and arts.

I don't like the Cocaine Cowboy serial documentaries, because somewhere down the line they transfigure the vision of the drug traffickers and show them as not that big of a piece of trash, and that is just plainly wrong, most of those are just greedy bastards, and the deals they did with the people will never come near to repent for the damage they bring to the population, which is still running rampant, and we haven't even touched the dynamics that such a venture brought to Colombia when the government, the paramilitary, and the guerrillas got involved, and the same goes for Mexico, part of Bolivia, and El Salvador drugs, and those that commerce with them ruined those places more than anywhere else, and a movie that ignores all this and goes talk about how Griselda Blanco went to "atone" in prison deserves nothing but shame, just her sons getting killed not only was and is not enough, but is irrelevant as far as compensation goes, as for her background story what a load of bullshit if that was true then most Colombians would be narcos, and hell maybe that is why people think that ALL Latinos are drug lords and live on plantations... man fuck those movies, and the third one, a promising failure, because while the corruption of the government is a reality, to legalize drugs brings the same thing as it did with alcohol, and is that the ones that get the advantage are those with the means of production, the big mafias again, and the government then enters into play with them again, the only good thing out of all this is that the small dealer is cut off from the market, but all in all Meth has no saving points to get its ass legalized, the thing is just too nasty, alcohol is nasty too, but the cultural factor played on its favor, but Meth lacks that.

Sweden is a better place, it has peace, and a quiet population, no need to get them riddled up with a shitty law system, just to solve some problems that don't require such measures.

So... you disagree? I think we need a balance betwen lenient and cruel. Problem is, most societies opt for either one or the other, it's all black and white, no gray zone, no balance, life or death, good or bad, right or wrong!

It's a good thing I had a subtitle file for that, could just cut it out. :P They could indeed, but it doesn't seem like they do, it's like our society's vicious cycle of consumption. It's just building and building and eventually it's going to break down.

True that... the two people they interviewed in the first one seemed like pretty resourceful and creative individuals; I was close to admiring them rather than resenting what they did. And Griselda Blanco's past kinda made me sympathetic, even if she was one of the few people in those movies it was just impossible to step into the mind of: she was just savage. Surely her childhood comes into play there, but as you say it's no excuse. I liked the movies particularly because they weren't intentionally cracking down on the drugs though, on the right and wrong, but rather focusing on the story itself and detailing the events from both sides of the law, criminals and cops alike, it was a sort of raw and unfiltered view of how the business came to be and works, and I'm happy they weren't throwing in moral obligations and 'dont do drugs' messages into the picture, though that much should be clear to any attentive viewer. The third one seemed a bit more like propaganda than the previous two, but as it was anti-government, propaganda against the 'official' one, I liked that part about it as well. The second one was the one I liked least, feels like they tried turning it into a soap opera for a while, each part of it ending with some form of cliff-hanger. And following just one individual.

Well I guess we do have peace, but not really harmony, not in most places. There's just a lot of injustice brewing here, but no need to get riled up again... as for drugs btw, apparently there's plenty here as well, we just don't have that much law enforcement cracking down on the trade. And fortunately it's not become a part of culture yet, it's not something everybody just has to try while growing up. Leave that to nicotine snuff.

140th comment celebration :0

Woo, party! :D

RE: Obama's shortened comment spaces
Yes, it's been since the summer of 2011 atleast....wow you broke my horizontal page!!!! you typed out of the comment space!!!! but you're not supposed to do that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: ancient zoology
Quite right, birds are proposed to be evolved from therapods (particularly raptors), crocodilia is descended from another broader group of dinosaurs that I can't remember, although they're the closest extant species related to birds! Other than the other species of birds, of course. Well there is this guy lol: (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bb/Larrybird.jpg) ironically his last name really is Bird lol.Turtles, snakes, lizards, are a bit more convoluted...I'm not even sure if they have dinosaur ancestors, they are descendants from other precursory reptile species...hmm I'll have to look at the more...not to say that anything in phylogenetic analysis is fool-proof...

RE: back to the desert & beyond
largest animal here would probably be coyotes or bobcats...although up north (woody terrain) there are bears and deer.

I think those laws mainly apply to wild Saguaro cacti. I suppose you would need a license of some horticultural license of some sort, to treat/move them if be. I would suppose the cactus that is cultivated for food purposes (which is somewhat popular here, have yet to try it though) grows and is prepared at farms.

Yeah, cactus wrens are pretty badass (http://www.nhptv.org/natureworks/graphics/cactuswren2.jpg)..their nests are plenty visible, but good look trying to hunt the eggs while not getting stabbed lol. Palm trees are a bit of a different story (http://ak7.picdn.net/shutterstock/videos/3324674/preview/stock-footage-cape-weaver-sitting-on-palm-tree-next-to-nest.jpg) although the palms that I've seen here are much thicker. Not to mention those fuckers can grow over 100 feet O_O i'd imagine there's regulations from them getting that tall though lol. We cut ours down before they were even 20 ft.

RE: a musician in the family
I feel like you've showed me that site before! Good design work. Btw your sister looks like actress Amy Smart. Music has solid recording quality...was it done in a studio?? Nvm, just looked at her bio page lol. Site hasn't been updated since last decade...did she ever get her album finished?? Does she still make music, perhaps on NG lol? Still play piano?

RE: Obama's shortened comment spaces
Mmm. Is there... is there a rule against it? :P They could fix that 'bug' easily with a simple overflow: hidden in their CSS btw. I'm surprised they haven't already.

RE: ancient zoolog
lmao, Larry does have somewhat birdlike features! Ah yeah, they're from the same era of time, but not necessarily dinosaurs, seems I'm just grouping them all as the reptilian breed. Just read that the first mammals evolved from reptiles around 200 million years ago, but they weren't dinos.

RE: back to the desert & beyond
Ah, bobcats are awesome. :D

Sounds like a type of holy cactus! That you can't kill or move. Oh btw, how about if you own the land, still the same hindrance? Didn't know there were Cacti used specifically for eating, interesting! I've heard (via movies and other media) you can eat certain types in survival situations though, or just zap some sap.

Oh man, just sitting calmly in that sea of spikes! :D That second nest looks like a fully-enclosed globe, I suppose with an opening somewhere, is it? Looks dangerously fragile on that picture. Oh, they have regulations on how tall you can grow your trees over there?? Btw, as for your own palm trees, any fruit-bearing ones?

RE: a musician in the family
Ah, maybe, it's been up a while it seems. Thanks, I still like how it looks too though I need to take time some time and get rid f the frames, not very good for SEO. Hah, probably not in a lit room, but that's a complimenting comparison! Yeah, they're all studio recordings; there are plenty more, this is a pretty meager selection. That second album was never finished btw, she started with massage instead. We have a bunch of old demo tapes though, they had a pretty different style from the newer ones (better, I think). Gotta make them digital some time... heh, no NG, she still has her instruments, and some good equipment (the mic I mentioned is her old one btw) but I don't think she plays/practices too often. Oh yeah, btw, we did record a quick Christmas album for grandma just last years (a couple of months before she died - glad we got that done in time), I could send that over if you're interested? Songs in Swedish though.

RE: prison funnies
Yep, yep, and yep.
Will have to keep and eye for those documentaries.
@Doomroar- you're from the U.S.?? Always thought you were from the South Americas for some reason lol
@Doomroar@Cyberdevil@whomever- So you're against legalizing alcohol? What about marijuana? Cocaine? The only drugs I wouldn't touch are heroin and meth. Not that I would recommend doing any "illegal" or potentially "dangerous" substance, a lot of the drugs made illegal are less harmful than alcohol.
I think dealers should be locked up, but the users should be given rehabilitation and fines.

General apathy towards crime or not, there isn't a school shooting every work in Nordic lands (knock on wood) so you must be doing something better than the U.S...all the same I bet citizens cannot be too happy that tax dollars that go to funding the luxuries in such facilities?

Wait, what?? so cops don't even have guns there?? They don't pull of sick moves like in the movie Kopps? Even if there's an Anders Breivik on the loose?

Here's the official link to the mugshot site: it's not exhaustive (not every single mugshot is published) and you can actually vote on who looks the silliest: http://www.mcso.org/mugshot/

there's even a facebook group and recaps on other news gossip sites...smh

Yeah, Cocaine Cowboys was a pretty good trilogy! Though I don't have many others to compare to. :P

Not at all, I think legalizing alcohol (well, it is legal already) and marijuana would be the right way to go about it. It'd take the money from the criminal organizations to the government; thus also to the people. Not sure about cocaine... maybe that too. The important thing would be to make the public aware of its dangers, in a way that doesn't somehow make the dangers seem more of a thrill than something they should stay away from. Like they've done in Portugal. As for all the other, hardcore, modern artificial drugs - legalizing those would be catastrophic, they just have no benefit. Not sure what the best way would be to sway the people though, maybe... build up a society where people don't need to resort to drugs to feel good. Yeah, locking up dealers sounds reasonable, the users are often victims.

True that, and it's got to be something about social values and accessibility of weapons IMO. Yupp, we aren't too happy.

Well they do have guns, but as soon as they use them there's bound to be a mound of complaints filed in. There's no such thing as a right to kill someone in self-defense here, and rarely even to hurt someone in self-defense - not even for cops. A headline that comes to mind is when they were chasing a stolen car last year, the stolen car drove into a river and the driver died, and they blame the police for inciting the driver via pursuit. Not that this has anything to do with shooting, those headlines aren't half as interesting, they're more along the lines of 'cops shot psychopathic killer in leg, could have detained him without shooting'. Hah, Kopps was a bit more like it should be! :D

Woah, that's pretty crazy... I guess it serves as extra punishment, but at the same time that's really counter-productive as far as rehabilitation goes. How will people react to meeting those people after their mughosts have been featured on the site? Hmm...

@S3C ?? no i am not from the US when did i said i was, your initial assumption was correct tho.

Yeah i am against legalizing alcohol, and for marijuana it needs more research, more control, and better distribution but it would be great if people stop using it, because even if is not as bad, it will be abused in the same way as alcohol, cocaine is the worst out of these 3, really if you have to drug yourself make some tea out of marijuana, and then again we need more research to know if that is the best option.
I actually have only touched alcohol a couple of times because i was even younger and they offered me some, so while trying to be polite and controlled by curiosity i took the glasses. And since then i am drug free, and by drugs of course i mean alcohol, cigarettes, weed, all that, so i wouldn't touch any of those not even the socially accepted ones.
Yeah i agree with the dealers being locked up, and the users getting rehabilitation, and also some insight on why is that they were doing drugs to begin with so they wont fall back to consume, so a mixture of rehabilitation and prevention.

The place is so nice that their cops are unarmed!?

Lololololol http://www.mcso.org/mugshot/MODV2.png

Heeey, I was assuming the same thing! :D Don't know if you ever have mentioned country or even continent of origin though...

If alcohol was made illegal the underworld would probably make a huge profit off of it though, it's been done in the past and that didn't turn out so well. I suppose it's because it's something people take for granted, and even if it's made illegal people wouldn't consider it 'wrong'. That'd take some good propaganda... I rarely ever drink myself though, have never been drunk; have never done drugs. Thinking marijuana could be useful if I get super-depressed though, surely it's better than any artificial alternatives... though there might be other more useful plants for that purpose.

Answered below. :P I don't think they always carry guns though, only in certain areas; under certain circumstances.

Not a bad choice!

Talking about food and old women i will leave this here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuwTZZsTomQ S3C you should really look this one XD.

lmao XD

What the heck are you guys talking about

Oh nothing in particular... dinosaurs, insects socializing, drugs, music, the breast of an octogenarian woman...

Oh lawd he ate the breast pudding...

What country is Doomroar from then?

Well, marijuana wouldn't be abused in the same way as alcohol, considering the effects are the opposite, not to mention marijuana doesn't have nearly the same propensity to form a chemical addiction. Marijuana abuse would lead to laziness and less violence. It results in significantly less deaths every year than caffeine, alcohol, high fructose corn syrup, any unhealthy foods that lead to obesity, yet such would never be regulated. Potential for abuse is not a good enough reason for lobbying against a substance as cough medicine, ibuprofen, sudafed, can easily give a stronger, more dangerous highs but they are still obtainable over the counter for illness and pain relief. Also, if certain substances where deemed legal (I'm mainly speaking for marijuana here), there's less chance of taking some mysterious drug laced with toxins off the street (which is common, to make the substance heavier to artificially drive up the price), or obtaining a legal yet more harmful drug.

Prohibition generally leads to such drugs ending up in the hands of dealers who are commonly associated with gang & crime syndicates. That's a huge reason for drug related violence, theft, and other dangerous crimes. If the drugs were licensed, and regulated to a certain degree there would be no reason for these syndicates to form...just like people don't go to dealers to buy alcohol and cigarettes, as such is legal.

RE: a topic of the distant past
Holy shit Cyberdevil was right all this time: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_projective_line

Heh

Who are ye asking? @Doomroar?

Regulating sugar would probably be as difficult as regulating alcohol. They did get a pretty wide spread with aspartame... if only they'd chosen something a bit less artificial... I'm happy to see that trend finally turning with the Life instead of Lite products. Mmm, good points.

Well as for cigarettes, they still smuggle in large amounts, being that taxes are pretty high on those items here. Supply and demand. Now if only they could start smuggling in HDs, cause the potential-anti-piracy taxes on those is pretty taxing...

RE: a topic of the distant past
Wioah, formulas are way over my head but... that's groovy. Also @Doomroar

RE: unwritten digital law
Yes there's a rule against dong that: non-existent horizontal scroll wheels/pads

RE: ancient zoology
That's true about mammals! The first mammals looked like vicious dog-dinosaur hybrids (minus the colossal size, but equally intimidating...here's one of the first mammals, the gorgonopsid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jWcjVEWYMY

RE: trees, shrubs, & the plant life
I don't think the same laws applies to plants (cacti) that you own, lol. I guess the cacti are holy to a certain degree, a person could be crucified to one if there was need, lol. Yeah, it's a good survival plant too! A lot of plants in the desert have a mechanism for retaining water or some kinda liquid sap, as to survive the arid conditions. If you ever happened to be stranded in a warm desert...

Not sure if there's a finite limit on trees sizes, but it would be awfully dangerous to maintain, or if it falls, the damage could be catastrophic! Plus, there's a home owner's association which everyone has to abide so nearby houses are more likely to be sold, such as keep grass mowed. Don't think there's any human edible fruit on the palm trees here! There's coconuts on the palm trees in Florida though. Probably the hardest fruit to open, other than GOT DAMN uncrackable pistachios

RE: Maud the Massaging Musician Axell
One can still be a masseuse while pursuing musical pursuits, actually it's a benefit to the customers if both relaxing mediums are combined simultaneously. Sure, send it over! BTW, does your family know that you are an NG icon lol, or do you try to keep your online life strictly online (like me) ?

RE: brb
brb

RE: unwritten digital law
Ah, true. But everything is still aligned to the left, right? So it doesn't directly disturb regular content scrolling?

RE: ancient zoology
Woah, you seem to know way more about this than I do! Interesting video, with some comical sound effects on some scenes. I wonder how realistic their vocal mimicry is, at one point it really sounded like one of them was saying 'money'. Btw, the mass extinction notice the video ends with, is that the same one that wiped out the dinosaurs? So these critters all lived alongside each other at that point?

RE: trees, shrubs, & the plant life
Haha, brings about ideas for a grindhouse version of Passion of the Christ, the desert a grand stage of play. Do you happen to know if there are any poisonous cacti where you live? It could happen, in a potentially dystopian future where the entire world is just one enormous barren wasteland...

Mmm, could be. I don't think we have any such limitations here, people just use common sense in keeping huge trees away from buildings. And they grow rather slow. Hah, not if you have a hammer! Or if devoid of tools: a rock.

RE: Maud the Massaging Musician Axell
True true, guess she's just swapped priorities a bit. Though she's great at singing, she's not a very avid writer. Though most musicians probably don't write that much hmm... Will do in a minute. Haha, an icon huh! Well my family knows about my own sites and NG - I've spent too much time here it'd be strange if they didn't, but we don't interact online; I don't think they ever read up on my profiles or blogs. Apart from me, only my sister is a bit involved n the net, my brother has no time; my parents are oldskool... and old! The digital age doesn't quite run in their veins, fortunately!

Pico cutted the cake. He then stabbed zombies with the knife, and ate cake. Don't know how the zombies were there? Here's a backstory:
On April 2014, Pico is celebrating Pico Day with Tom Fulp and the NG Crew. He then notice lightning outside and zombies rose from the ground. He then cutted the cake but then a zombie busted and in and stabbed it. He then stabbed 10 more and then grabbed his pistol and BANG BANG BANG BOOM BOOM 5 zombies got shot in the head. 15 zombies died, but Tom and the crew grabbed weapons with Johnny (JohnnyUtah) getting a shotgun and blasting 2 zombies heads off. The rest of the crew slayed 53 zombies. A total of 70 zombies were dead. They then celebrated with beer and Steve the Tankman got juice for the Pico party. The End

I knew I was missing out on something on that Pico Day livestream! :O

This comment section grows exponentially overtime and again i can't find my comment! well i will address the most intriguing question first.
Re: Nationality
Yeah i never mentioned a country or continent on the Cyberdevil section, but i did on the VicariousE section so Nietzlawe, Vicarious, Neverhundred and i assumed everyone else already knew that i am from that country when fathers day is cancelled so we can elect president, Colombia, now i hope for people to finally realize that holidays have nothing holly to them, and that they can be cancelled without an issue, they are just consumerism days, but i bet that after a month they all will forgot this.

Re: mayonnaise
Yeah i have tasted it on some recipes, but most of the time it is just not worth it! maybe on a more fish heavy diet it may work, maybe...

Re: tetrapod meat
I have seen some images and they don't look alive at all, indeed they "kinda" look like food, i will give it some time. Horse meat is more of a rarity, and may incite worry on some people, while other will be all "meh".

Re: Cadaver disposal
I am totally up for my body to serve as nourishment for a tree i am taking no other burial service (and i am pretty sure that with your nerves dead you wont feel anything, but well you know i don't believe in after life and that stuff, ghosts with clothes XD).

Re: insects & moral rights & eggs
If the shell was better, sure all the more efficient.

RE: from beef to bananas
Is ok to not be tempted, is not like you are missing much.

Oh interesting and how far did that family tree go? Indeed The Roots is a great band! (best band).

Yeah i disagree, to focus too much on that allows for opportunists to appear and take the sentiment into a direction that brings some horrible and nasty things.

A pity really.

Re:Sweden is peaceful
In comparison the drug market plays a huge role over here, and while it is not culturally ingrained, it demands the utmost of cares if it ever gets legalized, and i am talking only about marijuana and maybe cocaine but only on its coca form because the plant is a ritual plant for the natives, and as a plant is not that harmful, to have legal cocaine would bring so many problems, specially because the Colombian in general has no responsibility, and then there is that little thing of the country still being on internal war.

Tis growing to previously unsurpassed proportions for this particular profile! In textual amounts especially! :D

Re: Nationality
Ah, Columbia! I don't 'think' I knew, but then again my memory is NeverHundred... good knowing. So, you're all for Father's day being skipped in favor of presidential election? Do you celebrate Mother's day though? It's true these holidays are considerably abused for the potential prospects of consumption, but as a family gathering they work well, no need to give presents and eat tons o' candy (though we do give presents... yes we have fallen that far...), just show some appreciation and spend time with people you care about. Under optimal circumstances though, people should do that every day, all the time; have no need for holiday's to remind them.

Re: mayonnaise
Have you tasted pancakes with a cold tuna/mayo/onion/dill mixture? That's the optimal combo, IMHO. Not too much mayo though, just a tablespoon/can, can be diluted with creme fraiche or whatever alternative you use over there.

Re: tetrapod meat
Hah yeah, no doubt they're dead when they're eaten, that's just the image I have stuck in my mind. Mmm.

Re: Cadaver disposal
Yeah, I know you don't believe it! I'm open to all possibilities though, and that possibility sounds ehm... well maybe better than cremation considering the potential of pain... there's also the possibility that the soul is eternally linked to the body as long as the body exists though, there's one potential benefit of burning. Anyway, in a probable case scenario with none of aforementioned pain or eternal presence, the cycle of life; trees feeding of humans... that's the way to go! The ultimate/natural justice! :D

Re: insects & moral rights & eggs
Huh? For real? No joke?? Maybe it does have a lot of nutrition in it, just like most vegetables/fruits..

RE: from beef to bananas
Reassuring. :)

I think it had about a hundred family members, though the roots went no further back then two or three generations before my grandma. It was on her side of the family, mostly. I know a couple of other relatives have researched as well, would be cool to collect all that research and make something a bit more extensive. Anyway, way way further back we were probably Kvens. Word.

Yeah, but there'll be opportunists whichever way you choose, the best way's a balance IMO. Or: a better alternative than the current judicial system.

Hmm, not sure what that's referring to... but yeah, probably. There's a lot of pity.

Re:Sweden is peaceful
Oh, yeah, knowing that you live in Columbia I'm sure you have way more insight in the trade than I do! The Cocaine Cowboys movies must've been way more person then. How fierce are the drug wars over there, if that is the internal war you speak of? Is it something you're affected by in everyday life?

Updated 37 minutes ago? i will never catch up!

Re: Drug Law
I am ok with legalization of the less fatal form of both Marijuana and coca, however only if the proper distribution and control of those drugs is implemented, as for the problem with the mafias, is because the ones in control of those current drugs are nothing like the ones that controlled alcohol, i am thinking of the Mexican drug cartels that would immediately gain way to do money laundering in a effective way, and for big countries like the US and well most countries in south america are quite big like Argentina and Brazil, those would have it quite hard to control all the demand and suply related to those drugs, so they would need to pay extra attention, and i don't have faith on the current offices of any of those 3 (specially Brazil), let alone my own (Colombia, and i think that some politicians do control part of that marked already, and it is illegal!).

Re: Sweden again
See? people actually make a fuss when someone dies on a police operation, if that happens in the US some people will actually defend the cop even if it was wrong and the victim was probably black, if that happens here people label the cop as corrupt, blame the criminal and it ends there another guy dead... some may even say that the news was a waste of time.

Re: Mugshot
Haha it changes each day, today is a good looking woman, but yesterday's one was hilarious i promise!

Re: Nationality
Already answered, and i was sure that you already know Mr S3C i remember you were on that comment section with everyone else... but TL:DR continent: Southern part of the americas Country: Colombia City: Cali (without fornia).

Re: drug law again.
I agree Marijuana actually makes you calmer, but i am not satisfied with the amount of research being made on the drug uses of that plant, some are in favor, others against, some say that it boost some neurological process, others that it is awful, and we are in that ambivalence, so i can't really say that i approve of it, or that i denounce it, however i do consider it the best of all the options above alcohol and everything else that is already socially acceptable, as for its medicinal uses i think that it is already legal over here too so not much to said on that topic. Coca has some nice uses too but we all know what they will use it for, to make soda! (as if XD, well that too).

Hah, maybe it'll turn out like that legendary 10k comment post...

Re: Drug Law
Seems we pretty much agree then. Yeah there's too much corruption, but either the government or the mafia are in control, there will be corruption. At least the government are better than the mafia, or... maybe not? If the government starts actively promoting drugs, lowering prices, making it accessible for everyone... well that could spin out of control quickly... it doesn't seem to be working so bad in places like the Netherlands and Portugal though.

Re: Sweden again
Well they make a fuss even if people don't get killed! And if a cop gets killed, nobody complains (well, maybe cops, but they're a minority). It's like their lives are worth less than the criminals the are hired to catch. I'll agree the US has even bigger problems, but if we could just get a balance between the two maybe all these problems would disappear...

Re: Mugshot
You checking out that mugshot site daily now? :P Oh, woah, yeah... today's isn't as nice as yesterdays! I thought the image you linked to was a static image btw...

Re: Nationality
Cali huh, I thought that was short for California! Right in the middle of the big city?

Re: drug law again.
Mmm, and there is the potential for lung cancer with Marijuana, though it doesn't seem near as bad as tobacco. lmao yeah, that's how it all started out! :D Did you know Coca Cola was originally green btw?
