"WTF? You've never head of the Boondocks?"
You are living in sin man! go and fix that!

You mean I should... Google it or something? :O

I don't know how far the design stage is. Even if I asked, I bet the answer is pretty vague. Luis sometimes comes to me for opinions on some part of the website he's been designing. As far as office rumors go, it's mostly just mundane everyday things. For example, Luis told me how it was cold in the office one day, so I told him to put on his coat. He told me that's a good idea, and so he did just that. He wants nobody to know though, so shhhhh.

I hope it's possible to remain unscouted long enough to upload all 600 songs hahaha. That could be a problem. Advance Wars sounds like a good game by the way. Speaking of games, I saw your BBS Awards 2013 the other day. That sneaky little reference really made my day ;)

So, you think we can get this thing to 100 comments?

Yeah I figured it'd be vague, would've been interesting knowledge to know tho. So you're the one working on the redesign behind the scenes huh! :D Have you worked with web design yourself? lol, I can keep a secret! I'm actually sitting with jacket equipped myself; a candle burning for warmth, twas 9C in the room this morning. Bit chilly.

Apparently they added a feature so audio artists can/need to accept a scouting request before they're scouted, that should be no problem. :) I'd be tempted to scout myself but that feels like an abuse of power somehow...

Glad you liked it! :D How many questions did you get correct?

If you keep responding, no problem.

Unrelated question, do you happen to read/have read Suske en Wiske? Been collecting those comics for some time... translated versions though.

It's odd to see someone being able to stick to a site for ten years, let alone there being a site that survives ten years. Someone my age (high school) can't fathom how old a site like this is.

I was reading your discussion with Whirlguy and had a comment on the audio portal awards. I like to listen to rock. Would there be overall awards or awards based on catagory? Because to my personal taste, all dupstep is cringe worthy and I wouldn't want to see it shun out someone's song of a genre I like simply because it has a different listener base.

It is pretty incredible. This site predates giants like Google and Wikipedia... and YT doesn't even compete. :) I suppose the longer it lives, the bigger the lure will be in becoming a member on one of the most esteemed places on the net, but at the same time it's going to be difficult to stay fresh in the face of competition! Whatever the secret ingredient in this brew is, it's addicting though... or maybe it's how if you become a member during your growing phase, and stick to it during that phase, it becomes like a part of you...

Those are all just hopes and wishes, no definite plans! Though I'd think there's not enough content to merit a daily five in each category (seeing as there are... something like 10-20 categories and around 50-100 submissions each day). I'm sure rock wouldn't rank too low on the list though, everybody likes rock! Hiphop used to be the real underdog, and still is compared to other genres. Techno and Trance used to be the main ones but dubstep is definitely on the rise... how's the teaming up going btw?

Go and watch that series man, the boondocks is pure genius!

You mean like... right now? :O

Well... i don't know how you are feeling right now, the boondocks is a political and social satire oriented cartoon, it has a lot comedy and action, so it is mean to make you laugh as well as think.

However, i don't know if that is the most appropriate thing to do right now, considering what happened recently.

In any case, if you feel like getting a laugh give the Boondocks a try. This is probably one of those rare cases when i recommend that series solely for the comedy.

Well I meant like... I was mimicking my previous comment/joke on being lamentably lazy (as in not really), but thanks for the consideration/description! And man, it's not mean at all to make you laugh and/or think. :P I'll add it to my watchlist!

I'm sorry to hear the weather's so cold overthere.

Lol, there was mention of such an individual? I'm pretty sure it's not me, but I think I know who this secret person might be. Programming webpages is a hobby of mine, yeah. I've got the basics down of Html, Css and Javascript, and messed around with bootstrap and jquery before. It's interesting what you can do these days! Only as of late I've gotten involved with Php and Sql databases, though I haven't yet learned how to program in Php or create a proper database. I've pretty much got the theory down though.

Ha, Suske en Wiske. Never was a big fan on the comics but I did have a couple of the comics. By the way, I got 9 questions right on your quiz after doing a bit of research. Best flash was a gamble, but I guessed it right on my first try haha. I never found out who that Wiz was.

No worries! Winter does not phase me so much now! I believe I've been hardened by the sands of time! That's probably why my joints aren't moving as smoothly as they could be...

Well ehm... you just mentioned such a figure. ;) Looks like you know a bit more than I do, I'm still far from mastering more than snippets of occasional JS and query. I'm surprised a designer doesn't have a site linked to on their profile though?

How common are those comics over there? Does everyone in the Netherlands know of their existence?

Just one step away from a perfect score! Congrats! :D Well there's a user with jays on his feet *hint hint*, well maybe that's not a big enough hint unless you've browsed the BBS like a maniac around the shift of years, it's JayThe___

Aww, man! Me and my running mouth :P

I'd like to set up a website someday. When you told me how to get to my old profile on the WayBackMachine, I actually found my old website. Pretty nostalgic. Also, a great reminder of why I don't host a website right now; it was pretty pointless. But maybe you've got a point. Now that I give it some thought, there's probably a lot of things I could upload/blog about. Not to mention it would be great to experiment with interesting new features. You're pretty good with actionscript, right? I don't think it's much different from javascript myself.

I'd say everyone in the Netherlands has heard of Suske and Wiske at the very least. They are really common. I haven't been giving it any attention, but I think most stores have them in their magazine displays.

Least you're not the Running Man. :P

You've had one already! Feel like sharing that link? Unless the pointlessness is coupled with shame and agony. :P I browsed through my old site (cyberdyze.com) trying to salvage what I could, but it was never big enough for all the pages to get indexed. Took me way too long to learn the significance of backups and stuff! Yeah, it's great having a playground online. I've never started a local server to experiment with, always uploaded stuff to test it, in secret folders etc. Probably not the best way but old habits Die Hard.

Well I know the basics of buttons/links/frame commands in AS2 but I couldn't program a real game without delving into tutorials. Never had the patience/time to learn it from the ground up.

Interesting! Are they still actively published, maybe just re-printed?

Well i really don't know how appropriate is to start telling people in the middle of grief to go and watch comedy XD.

Linking to something like 'Grave of the Fireflies' probably wouldn't be appropriate. :P I'd think comedy is fine though, if I was gloomy there'd be no wrong deed in seeing comedy.

Oh definitively should go and watch barefoot gen that melting flesh scenes are great XD.

lmao, I think I'll pass... gotta hrrm... prioratize other things. :P Actually I was thinking I'd get a part done for the 'Happy' Collab right now, if there's time before deadline, been stalling on that for a few days..

Nothing inspires more happiness than barefoot gen!

Can't tell if you're being genuine..ly sarcastic? :P

you're in a state of grief?

I wouldn't call it grief; no longer considerably bleak, but aye life aint at a peak.

My grandma died a couple of days ago, aftereffects of an infarct; kidney failure while taking antibiotics for some kind of pneumonia. Though she's been going to the hospital a lot the past couple of years; hoping to pass away, so it wasn't that unexpected.

I am being totally serious here, the ending leaves you all warm and nuclear crispy... oh no wait that is bad XD.

lol, don't think I want such a strong reactor. :Powerplant.

But the whole thing is da bomb! literally...

This exchange of explosive comments has been a blast! But maybe we should nuke it? :P

Sorry to hear that, did you mention that somewhere?

How old was she?

Thanks man! I posted a memento/blog (on my site), but I'm not really trying to broadcast the message. Been speaking with Doomroar via PM though.

92, closing in on 93. So you could say she lived a full life. :) Her sister's 97 though, they've both lived all their lives in the same spot, a mere kilometer apart, worked hard; lived/living long.

Maybe I'll go and watch that movie tonight... :)

Wow your website was pretty awesome! It's cool to watch it evolve over time. Mine was hardly a "website". It lived free, but died pretty hard. I remember a time when social media wasn't that big yet, and there was this popular Dutch website called CU2. It allowed people to create their own space with text and images. Everyone had a quiz on their page. I translated one of those quiz templates to the best of my ability, and made that into my "profile". It's pretty awful and obnoxious. Also, I love how "google" is in my links section ahahaha. Too bad the images didn't survive. Got to love the faulty source code.

Making a game without knowing how it works seemed pointless to me, and since none of the tutorials actually explained actionscript on a level that taught me anything, I found out how to create the basics of a platformer game all by myself. Learning how to program javascript was the biggest leap forward.

Hey, we made it over 100 comments! About those Suske and Wiske's btw, I have no clue, sorry. Also, my condolences to you.

Did you? :P I think I've watched pretty much all of Arnold's movies, used to be quite the fan. Actually watched Escape Plan yesterday, him/Stallone/50 Cent in the same movie. Didn't think I'd ever see such a cast!

Thanks, had to go back and walk it through the years just to see what you've been seeing lol, made it a task to port all my old static news announcements to the new site at the same time. Archival is a big hobby hrrm.. obsession. It was a pretty ambitious project at the start, but due to an eternal chain of layout changes and change of content focus it never did reach its full potential, forums were accidentally deleted/hacked/cleaned a few times too, but that doesn't show on the Wayback. Looking back, having only flash menus on some designs was a really bad choice, it kept those pages from getting indexed at all.... even though it did look pretty cool.

There was a time when Google wasn't common knowledge too... when 'to Google' wasn't actually in the dictionary. :) Newgrounds for duplicating flash and audio? Heh, interesting way of formulating it... that's a nostalgic list of links though, apart from the wallpaperman site I remember all those places. FlashKit seems to have died a bit over the years but it's still a big resource... oh, looks like we had the same favorrite movies back then, Terminator, Matrix & LOTR! Maybe everyone did. :P Btw, do you still not like potatoes?

Thanks for linking, simple but fun (but crazy contrasts in color lol). Btw, you didn't need to link to the Wayback version, the site is still there: http://www.freewebs.com/djwhirlguy/Home.html

Though the images don't seem to work there either...

Ah, you were more dedicated to the craft than I was. If I could go back now I'd definitely do some more consistent learning instead of jumping from one thing to the other, but I guess I was searching for some kind of purpose. Also searching for an online home, as I signed up for all types of communities like: http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/item/0e7cea75af4d7e9929433e676c61399d

And balanced activity between them depending on how welcoming/accomplishing they felt. Woo yeah, we made it! :D Speaking of comment amounts, you might be interested to know about: http://vicariouse.newgrounds.com/news/post/697188

Thank you!

Nah, didn't watch it in the end. I haven't seen all the Arnold classics myself, but still quite a few. Used to watch em on tv with my father.

Archiving is fun, I do it quite a bit myself. It's how I learned to program in the first place! I was on the lookout for new and better ways to store my data, and programming webpages seemed like the way to go. Especially since it allowed for interactivity. Too bad some of your pages didn't get indexed. That's a shame!

Lol duplicating. Not the best way to put it. Also no, I love potatoes nowadays hahaha. But I remember hating the floury kinds that would itch your gums. The Matrix and LOTR were huge back in the day. I made some shitty remixes of their theme songs and got loads of downloads on those. The rest of my songs just paled in comparison. As for Terminator, I really enjoyed part 2 and I didn't know what other movie to add on my profile. I think I replaced it with Kill Bill later on. I'm astonished to see the site's still up lmao!

Hehe, "online home". I'm guessing everyone has one. For me it's always been Newgrounds. Oh hey, I had all 10 answers correct by the way. Is it supposed to give me a medal or something? Because nothing happened lol. Also, is 10,000 comments the limit?

How about newer ones, do you stay tuned? Last Stand? Expendables?

Yeah, it's too fun! :D I have collections for... too many things, and I seek closure to large scale archiving operations that'd be difficult to complete. Shame indeed, but I am surprised that the flash menus are actually indexed, didn't think the Wayback Machine did flash. Must have something to do with how they're embedded.

Yeeeah, potatoes are awesome! The good kinds, the ones that aren't watery or floury and don't stick to your gum! We've been eating homegrown potatoes until recently (they ran out, more to be grown next summer) and the switch is drastic. The ones from the shop taste... nothing. Unbelievable difference. Least with the 'normal', cheap potatoes, better ones are beyond budget. But enough about taters... indeed. I still love the original Matrix movie, and Terminator 2, but they're more like classics than favorites now. Kill Bill more than Terminator? :O Are you into martial art movies in general? Ong-Bak? Chocolate? Wheels on Meals? Yeah, it's pretty cool freewebs haven't taken down old content despite inactivity, I do hope all their old sites remain around forever, Geocities was a real disappointment (I had a few sites hosted there too, though don't remember addresses).

Since way back when you first signed up? Guess it took a while for me to really get attached to the place... to more than stats maybe. Ah no, no medals on the mini-quizes, just the 'official' one! I don't think there is a comment limit, it just happened to stop at that amount (and a pretty insane amount considering they seem to be unique comments... though I haven't made an effort to browse through all). That's probably the record.

I saw Expendables, but not the Last Stand.

Hehe, I actually archive a lot of data. It started out with keeping track of the anime series I had seen, but then I started keeping track of albums and movies, and then they needed graphs and oh god. I went way too far with this haha. I like it when things are in their proper position. My disk is actually partitioned into four stations: 1) Local drive, which contains windows and most installed programs. 2) Games, where steam and games are installed. Convenient, because I hate to reinstall everything. 3) Projects, which means everything from flash to audio and 3d modeling to stories and everything in between. 4) Media, which means pictures, wallpapers, videos, music, random downloads and more.

Sounds nice to have homegrown potatoes. Is the taste difference really that drastic? I'm actually not that familiar with martial arts movies. Kill Bill probably made a huge impression on me for being so different. It had anime, psycho Asian chicks, iconic visuals, merciless violence and awesome music. I remember geocities. Or rather, I remember many people had their website on there, I didn't have one myself. Also, remember this?
http://www.newgrounds.com/dump/draw/7c91af7401d8d604a10a545244824a3d
I'm still thankful for those packages :)

I find it kind of hard to believe that nobody would feel tempted to post another comment. Hmmmm... About those Suske en Wiske's btw; they are being sold and reprinted as we speak.

The second too? Didn't like the first that much, but it's growing on me... and I hear Jackie Chan might be in the next. :D Last Stand was pretty good, not amazing, but nostalgically gritty.

lol, I can relate to that! Anime, music, movies, games, comics, scripts, templates, photos, source files... though I use external HDs for most of them, just have two internal partitions. One for OS/programs/documents/temp media files, and one for creative files like flash, site backups, text/image/work archives etc. A separate computer for games. I have one set of backup HDs on 2TB each and another set to backup those. Used to have some order for all these items but nowadays it's mostly a mess...

It is pretty neat. :) We grow almond potatoes, and they don't usually sell those in shops all year round, least not cheap - they definitely have a stronger taste! Not to say regular round potatoes taste bad, but they seem weak when you get used to the former. Oh, if you thought Kill Bill was good you should definitely give real Asian cinema a shot, here's a very brief appetizer of a few classics, old and new(er):

Ong-Bak (chase) - http://youtu.be/VHbKb_XTz_M
Dragons Forever - http://youtu.be/cq6T9u9LReg
Flash Point - http://youtu.be/yvmbR9UL8iY
??? - http://youtu.be/8WfRupB8yIg

lol yeah, I remember sending those, but not that it was to you!! Terrible grammar I had back then. :P Awesome.

Everyone who's stumbled upon it must've had the deepest respect for the insanely high and even comment count. :) Oh, that's cool, hope they release them internationally too.

Hey, is there a fan/favorite cap I don't know about? I've been wondering why some of my friends became unfanned. I count 1,013 favorite users... is that the cap?

Could there be a cap? :O I'm still only up at 868 so I can't say/try/check it out, but if there is that must be a bug, guess you've tried adding one more and seeing what happens? Though better take a printscreen first to see who gets removed if they do.

Haha oh man this one just come out today about tears:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRroj26qVb0
Is a little better, and again practically no change has been made on why is that we cry, maybe if we investigate tears in non human animals we could advance some more.

Another interesting video. :) The first one mentioned how humans are actually the only species who cry, so... I guess regular animals only have basil and reflex tears then, interesting how crying when you slice onions is just a way of washing acid out of the eyes, I've always heard it was healthy.
