I do love dragons, and mecha, and ancient mechanical mysteries even more, so this was a real feast! :D Such intricate details, and imaginative/clear forms no less. The colors really bring forth these mythical beasts as well, though so bright wings... wonder if they could've appeared even more mythical/magical/ancient with a somewhat darker or jaded hue. I wonder how it would look with a little shading or texture too... not that it isn't enough as is.

Not to complain unnecessarily since this really is awesome but it does seem a little incomplete when some elements are colored and some aren't, as well. I imagine if the canvas was simply light gray, or something similarly ground-like, then that'd be enough. The white shines a bit. Becomes a focus point around the main motive.

Also holy shit you've sure poured in a heavy dose of time into some of these! Turned out great though.

Haha yes, this is definitely one of my favorites indeed. Yes, 14 hours to be precise, only 1 hour of which was coloring. I have two rendering of this one actually.
The only reason why this one was uploaded was because (being new and all), I thought that because it was to be done in ink, inktober was suppose to be mainly black and white and I see other people post black and white but they added an element of color here and there so I tried it.
I'll be posting the full color one soon, with shading and with as much texture that I've learn to use.
Keep an eye out. lol

The sky/background... not sure what it's made of here. Clouds? Ice? Rock? The shapes baffle me a bit.

Really nice work on the ice and characters otherwise - proportions all look right to me, though I think her right foot might poke out behind her a bit the way its angled. Poetic/romantic description too... refreshingly fairytale-like :)

Also eight hours?! Woooah. I'd have thought the last piece would've taken at least as long as this one did, if not longer. Long time spent tweaking the human forms; getting those rights?

Turned out good, just feels like the background/sky is a bit unclear, and maybe also a little cluttered. The characters don't stand out as much as they could I think.

Haha you'll be shocked then because I decided to do two rendering of this.
This is my other rendering: https://www.newgrounds.com/art/view/kaileahpnelson/winter-dance

Some illustrations make take long while others with just as crazy details can take a whole hour. It simply depends on how well everything comes together.

Oooh, nice switch up with the background color in this one! And seemingly so much more detail with the shading/texture, both the crosses and lines. Gnarly trees reaching up into the blackness, the landscape in itself a detailed mastery... and then there's the fish fishing for humans. XD lmao! Definitely my favorite so far.

I really love the detail level here too, and the bulrush/cattail/typha? (Google translating kaveldun here - whatever you call that grass by the water).

If there's anything to improve I feel like the splash comes across a bit simple/textureless compared to the rest, but not sure how I'd draw that in a good way. Maybe darker water...? Nice one.

And yes please! A donut would be great right now.

KaileahPNelson responds:

*gives donut* XD
This is one my favorites too and my excitement to get this idea done and finished is what helped did it done in such little time.
The idea of the fish fishing for humans was like the perfect example of revenge lol to bad there wasn't a theme that was revenge, I bet this wouldn't been just as great as bait theme. The cattails were a great touch to help set the scene. I glad that you like it. I saw in your favorites when I was on your page.
Thank you.

Another coloring book entry hmm... curious if you're making these for the books as the month goes, or picking out entries from earlier books? Remaking earlier motives?

Once again it's a creative miniature landscape motive, seemingly suitable for a latter Halloween post date. :) The forms come across clearer here too. If it's the solid lines, or how the different forms/elements are just easier to distinguish from one another. Looks clear. I like the way the grass bends too. Some of the mushroom hat shading (no idea what you call that bit... mushroom membrane?) seems a bit rushed, but overall solid work! All nicely framed in by the greenery, black and white though it may be.

-cd-

KaileahPNelson responds:

I think its called a mushroom membrane.
To be honest this coloring book one is from a earlier book but the did fit the theme and in the beginning when I started inktober, I was still figuring out what it was. lol
So I thought at the time as I continued to draw, I'd get some advertising done at the same time, by simply giving my fans a small taste in what I have to offer and that they should keep in might that no illustration of mine will be repeated (so backgrounds are never the same, gotta come up with a new one that does even wave to the last one and will be unique on its own)
So details very in each illustration, some on the lighter details so its not too busy while others have heavier detail for those who like the crazy amount of details to color. 50/50

Buggy's World hmm... if it wasn't for the bug I'd have taken that as a One Piece reference. :) The apparition of that cricket did have me chuckling as soon as the image appeared, and the thought of these common insects emitting all but common sounds hmm... that'd be pretty interesting. XD Maybe in a parallel world somewhere.

Feels like the watermark/signature's a little distracting mid-image, but otherwise not bad... the proportions look right too, and you seem to capture both the wind and the width of the landscapes with the forms of the clouds and mountains here. It does feel a little cluttered/crammed together in black and white, but colored in I guess it'd be pretty easy to distinguish between the elements.

Making your own color books too! Impressive. It's been a long time since I tried one of those but it definitely seems like a therapeutic thing. I like the idea.

A lot of people like me Buggy's World and the Yodeling Cicadas seems to be popular on NG, or at least hit it off well. I had gotten 5 votes in a matter of a couple of days which would normally take like 2 weeks lol
I actually sold out of my stock of Buggy's World that I had built up, at the last craft fair that I was at. I got 5 therapeutic coloring books out now with a 6th on the way, which is be a patriotic based one in dedication for the soldiers and veterans who fight and fought for our country.
Therapeutic coloring books are very popular nowadays. Its not for kids anymore but for teens and adults to grandparents even.

I know pixel art's meant to be pixelated, but it's strange how this particular wing pattern comes across more as blurry than as the crisp pixel piece you'd expect... the colors converge.

Not a bad form though. Just something about that texture. Too realistic...? Interesting that might work with the wrong way with this particular art form.

gatekid3 responds:

some pixel art does have that look though. i think it just clashes with my usual aesthetic

Aaah unhealthy temptations are definitely better drawn than eaten, though when you see a drawing hmm... temptations come again.

So soft and bright too. Looks delicious.

Thank you! Haha I feel your pain

Morrigan looking good! Bit strange the foot blurs without anything else blurring on the body though, as if she's just flicking the foot rather than in motion. Forms really be out there too with both the bend and twist, almost a bit much, but not bad.

Thanks Cyberdevil for your comment

She's really red riding that hood! :D Beautiful stuff. Those stark colors in the contrasts to the black and white/grayscale metallic matte too... love this.

ChutneyGlaze responds:

Thanks c.d. I love your reactions thanks man!

Heavy anti-aliasing and a morbid merger of dark, flesh-like matter... all with a teethy pixel crispness and angle that almost seems like a spin on sanity itself. A glimpse of... Madness? I love how this all flows together and consumes you. Morbid and immersive work.
