Is this a 3d model? Looks great, good shape and shading! The dark blue ocean in the background looks a bit dark, and in smaller size it's like a line across the background, how about a less ovious shade? Apart from that, looks great! Nice one.

Viole responds:

Ah, sorry for such a late reply. Never did check back here. Yes it is a 3D model.

The darkness is being caused by an effect used within the program. It also causes the slight blur effect you see here. I have since stopped using it.

Intentional banditt typo? As for the art, looks like an appreciable main character, reminds me of Hamtaro or something: his evil glare is just petrifyingly... cute, lmao. Background and character look great, but the title is a bit plain, and it would probably look better centered, or in one or two lines instead of three. Will you be posting the comic here? Keep it going!

ZHADOW125 responds:

the comic for the bad banditt is in pre production progress it is not a typo, there is 2 t's for double the terror he strikes, i am open to suggestions, i will be realeasing all 3 comics "Hat Boy, The Bad Banditt, and Cookie Wars the first issue for free, i will try to publish all three in stores after the first issues so be on the look out, hatboy will be out soon

Haha, random comment much? Apart from the character eyes somehow looking very old and serious in this drawing (on second though, all the facial features probably have something do do with it) this pixelish interpretation of Link and... I forget her name, looks great! Especially the shading in their faces is detailed and simple at the same time, working with squares like this to do detail work must be a challenge. I guess there is no gradient for light gry or similar on the palette since the blotches of white are all white, like the Peach/Mona Lisa one? It would look good with some more color where theres only white, but apart from that, nice work!

DriedSquidHero responds:

I'm glad it had that impression on you, because the original is a pretty somber piece too. Link & Zelda hahaha :] The constant checking to see if each square fits the right color does get tedious, but I'm glad I had a wider color palette this time. Still strict on the palette though; their sprites, at least from FS/FSA, didn't have greys, again. My guess as to why greys are so left out is that, along with visual limitations, the designs for most characters are meant to be vibrant. But I'm glad you still liked it.

Thank you very much for another review!

Nice. Pretty creative style too, haven't seen anything like it before. I'm wondering what program you use to make something like this, and how? Surely it's not as it look, that it's really made up entirely of dots, or is it? When you say neogeo, are you referring to that old console?? Keep it going!

DriedSquidHero responds:

Well, while (as I learned AFTER I did this) there are admittedly MUCH easier ways of doing this, I used Adobe Illustrator to create each dot, duplicate, and then create a grid (with the align tools). Each dot is it's own object, so the only thing that isn't a dot is the black background. Oh and by neogeo I mean Newgrounds. Some work doesn't seem to fit the Newgrounds vibe. I suppose that's just the way it is.

Thank you again for all the reviews!

I like the colors in this, the clouds and waves and the beach all appear in really different shades. The stars appearing at the top looks nice, and the aplmtree silloutess are a powerful effect, shadows look good too. Looking at it in original size the sky is almost too bright, but as small version it looks good. Keep it up!

seltekkodes responds:

Thank you, I thought about trying to deepen the colors on the sky, maybe just use a translucent layer over it to darken it some, but Haven't tried it.

lmao, you can't mess with Angry Faic! It's nice how there are faces in everything here. the sun, the.. eh, tree (Behemoth)?, and yeah, obviously the characters too. Shapes are a bit ackwards but I appreciate the effort put into details like grass, shading, etc. Keep it up!

Thank you! More like this coming check the art fourm

I like it! Someone anything with a ship feels like a notion of freedom. I like the background texture and how the waves are just constituted of lines. Reminds me of a stamp somehow. the curls that reach into the hull, the swirls on the clouds, the strange creatures hanging from the clouds, they're all interesting additions, and the ship itself looks great! Looks realistic.

No comments on how you made this? That's always interesting to read. Look forward to more!

sisho responds:

Thank you!
Well, they're all vectors made in illustrator. I usually sketch the whole scene in a paper, then scan it and vetorize it. I also used some photo reference for the ship, cause i wanted it to look more realistic.
It's a bit of a time consuming and lame method, but since i've never got used to digital tables, I started drawing this way.
Soon I'll be posting more.

Cheers!

Hah, Mona Lisa in pixel form is still undone, maybe, that would be cool. This is a nice twist to a classic painting, though you can still add a lot of detail to it. Her clothing is just a patch of white, no shading or anything. Nice start; hope you continue it!

DriedSquidHero responds:

Yeah, I wanted to go in-depth with Peach here but restricting her to the original color palette makes a much stronger connection to her original sprite. It's a trade off I'm willing to make :q

Thank you very much for the review.

Awesome. D The combination of color and expression is just amazingly awesome. :D Really nice style too, without any real outlines, still all features clearly defined. Nice work!

daigonite responds:

the funny thing is I tried to do outlines but my hands shake when I hold the stylus so I don't exactly have much of a choice

Gotta love that latex suit and qhip! S&M! The background is a completely different style than the character, but it combines well anyway. I'm wondering how smootheninth the lines on the suit would work, as they're a bit sharp.

SushiQueen responds:

thanks for your feedback!
I could put a blur on the shine to smooth them out :)
