It's Summer...

Posted by Cyberdevil - June 23rd, 2015

...so I'll be heading up North again. A couple months sizzling in the summer sun as was born the norm, heavy work but scorn-free chores on warming floors, reforming sports and scores of ore we pick as clouds in mornings soar. Until then, here's a little something.

Have a good one!

This was pretty damn interesting. And yet, nobody's spoken! Be the first!

For real!

badass, a good song to end the day with as well as another point in ya life, hope you have fun up north!

Thanks man! Have a good one.

What? Where you going?

I went North! But now I'm back. Did I miss anything special?

Wow, I got knock'd offline just before you split for the summer :( Just came by... you know, let you know the old farm sold, and I'm moving away, no idea where. Oh! Also found your userpage in this http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/662088
Happy Clock Day, hope the critters are leaving the garden alone! If you need to, try rancid egg whites and garlic mix, they sell it here in concentrated form... after 2-3 coats/sprays, the deer won't nibble anything. Actually, this was the worst farming year ever here :(

Hmm those Internet connectivity issues you have seem troublesome! At least you're here first to welcome me back though. ;) I'll have to catch up on newsposts soon... have you found a place yet?

Oh lmao, what a find! XD And not a single review!! That's going to my favorites... Happy Belated Clock Day!

We've had better luck with the critters in the garden this year, though new issues: rain. First month of summer the sun avoided us entirely, water levels in the lake stayed way higher than usual all July, temperature never crept above 17C, I almost forgot what summer's are usually like... then two weeks before I leave again it returns with a vengeance! So we had some amazing final days at least. Most crops still aren't ready, I made it back with just a few bags of sugar snaps and salads, will be flying back up in a couple of weeks, just over a weekend, helping with the real harvest. Interesting recipe btw, we haven't had any deer over here (just rabbits, but fences keep them out) and voles, but if ever we do that sounds useful. Rainy days over there too? A mare of deers?

USAid it!

Hey, you're back, or is someone mysterious depositing for you?

Hey I'm back! :D

Almost total loss on the crops. My cousin didn't rototill the ground until early July! I'm supposed to be out of here before the pumpkins, cantaloupe, and watermelon (potentially) mature. It's a real mess, and I haven't had time to find a new place, so I'm going to stash the machines behind the rental house next door, along with 2 plows, a brushhog and a discer (likely not a good one, but oh well).

If I'm lucky, I can find a new 'farmette' before the end of the year... or before the ground freezes, I'd like to get at least a few soil samples before deciding. I've never really had to move out like this before, plus it's out of state... almost all the cats will have to get boxed up for the first time in their lives, get put in a shelter... sucks.

Cold start of summer over there too? I went scouting for apples yesterday btw, there's usually a surplus of apple trees everywhere and few people interested, but this year they're almost bare, not much hope for the expected applesauce/juice/etc surplus!

Ah, you're looking to keep on farming after the move? Thought'd you'd be moving to the less green scene of the gritty city, but hope you find some suitable patch of land somewhere! I know I´d be pretty depressed in an apartment cage all year..

You did not miss anything close to interesting. Not at all.

I was also wondering why you wrote heading up north AGAIN. It is like you expect people to know you were there before. I did not know it.

Good to know. :)

For those who've been reading my posts in past years they'll know where I'm headed; for everyone else, they´ll know it´s not the first time I'm taking a long vacation. ;)

Nah, some interesting stuff happened, I think, but you were privy to most of it before you left. Clock day was nice...

It wasn't cold per say, just a late start. If we had gotten stuff in much sooner, the drought now wouldn't have been so dire... besides, ain't my place no mo :(

Yeah, I prefer quiet and a reasonable amount of outside to look at. I will try and bring one or 2 outside cats with me... gonna be rough on them, and the ancient inside cat as well.

More active Clock Day this year than the last few? I recall I saw something by the one and only StrawberryClock in one of them P-Hots posts that flashed by, need to backtrack... btw, did the Anniversary Colab ever get submitted? I skimmed through the Continue The Story topic with grand honorable surprise Tom Fulp finale just now :O... looks like it wasn't fully revised though?

Ah. :/

Agreed! Hmmm how ancient is that ancient cat?

where the f*ck r u m8

Right here m8! Busy with bits of business I've been; heading back North for a few days tomorrow. :P I'll be back...

Yeah SBC did a video thing, was kinda hoping he'd respond to my atypical review... no word on the collab yet, been preoccupied with moving, myself. It did get revised my myself and the guy who wrote the last NG book.

Over 15 years old... considering putting all the cats in a no-kill shelter including her, which is kinda cruel, but I don't like house cats, and it's likely I won't find a place friendly to outside cats, until I buy one of my own. Gonna have to rent or find an extended stay hotel somewhere, so I can begin to find a permanent home.... it's all been packing, selling/scrapping and cleaning so far, don't wanna lose my $5K deposit >:(

The legend... he's almost as mythical a creature as the Grand Shadman! Hmm, hope that collab sees the light of daily awards soon!

Oh, Googled 'how long do cats live' just now... 15 years according to them. :/ Hope they all survive the move/storage/etc! Can't be too easy for a free cat to be caged... well, good luck! Hope you find the right place. Feels like you've been searching for a looooong time now.

Well then welcome back: in advance

Thanks man!

I really haven't been searching, because I don't have the money from the farm sale yet! And my sister has itemized every little thing (I'm taking with me), so it's likely I might not have enough to even buy a place, which is sickening.

Hmm I see how that'd pose a problem! :/ What does your sister do for a living I wonder?

Nothing, same as me, but she's been at it a lot longer, due to her medical condition(s)... her own fault really, she can't wind down or let small details go uncategorized. She used to be upper middle management for non-profits like 'the march of dimes' and 'PBS' TV

The new owner(s) came over yesterday in 3 cars, picked what was left of the garden, brought a large doll they called their 8th family member, sat it on a small stool in the middle of the garden while they were there... I like religious/tight families, but thought this was strange. Must be a Hindi thing.

Ah, explains a lot. Coincidence that you both ended up in the same industry btw?

Hmm? Like a little Budha statue? Big family btw!!

Well then: have a good summer ( (way) in advance)

lmao, well then, thanks way in advance man!

You know, I've never really thought about that! She didn't have anything to do with the studio or content though, she organized the non-profit, profit taking events, mostly by herself, since she wasn't an effective manager... cost her her health.

Yeah, big family... nah, it was like a little person, almost looked like a full-sized ventriloquist's doll, all decked out in conservative Indian garb... I asked S3C about it on his post, maybe he knows about the origins of such a thing. Even my redneck older cousin seemed to like them, likely due to the fact that their family are (were) farmers in India, starting with peanuts, then going to cotton.

Ah, working for the greater good and everything! Sad to hear it ended the way it did, however it did end...

Interesting. How did your cousin wind up in INdia btw? I'm getting pretty good impressions of India through all the Bollywood movies I've been watching lately, though we have a neighbor from that faraway land who's about to get evicted, hasn't paid his rent in months, just appealed to the supreme court to (I assume) stall the move a bit. They could've sold their house here and moved back to India with plenty to spare on a place there, but seems like it may not be as colorful a country as the movies make it out to be...

Oh, I had meant my cousin had met the new farm's owners family with me, about a week and a half ago, he never went to India, or grew up with a few of them as a kid, like I did,

I did kind of verbally agree to plant the back field with wheat, but no rain, no rain... and now we're due for a few inches, which would wash quite a lot of the seed away. Everyone's been telling me not to bother (other than the owners), so I guess I won't, still have much to pack away into containers, the utilities are getting turned off Friday (which should give me even more incentive to split). Rough stuff.

Ahh, that makes much better sense than the way I wrongly read it. Farmers do seem like a humble breed.

No irrigation system to sequentially quench the ground? Mmm, hope all goes well. Oh btw, Happy Belated Birthday! Hope you managed some celebration at least! Reminded by that tenacious YumToxic tribute.

WHAT. You use Fl studio!? you could use that in the future, and syncing problems = solved

Ehh I used to, for a year or two, made a few interesting tracks with it; actually tried picking it up recently but... had no idea how anything worked anymore. :/ Might be able to get into it again though...

You're using FL Studio now?

Sometimes my literary composure gets fucked up, thanks to my Pop, who first learned to speak Polish, then English...

Yom's a helluva nice guy, though I do think he might have capitalized on my good name with his cut 'n paste birthday tribute ;) Still loved it though, especially the birthday thread in General, really makes up for the shitty birthday I had.

Did you learn Polish too? Reading that phrase a second time it shouldn't have been so easy to misinterpret though, my bad.

Haha yeah, you're up there with the Kim JongUn´s birthday tribute on award claims of fame! ;) It was pretty awesome though, random but fun, and that frenetic guitar solo caught me off guard. Small details like that = major entertainment. Oh, well, twas an uneven year at least! Hope 45 sparks up real memorable celebrations!

Nah, though my Pop tried to teach me a little. I just passed a lady in the library here who said she just came from Poland... if my Pop were alive, I doubt he could understand her well anyway, the Polish language changed quite a bit since WWII.

Can you believe that cut 'n paste birthday tribute actually got the Daily 5th?!?! I don't know whether to feel honored, or sad that the site's standards have slipped lol

Ah, that lingual evolution. When you keep speaking a language you barely notice it even though it's happening all the time, old words phased out for new ones, simple remarks that were obvious to say unnoticeably morphed to something entirely different, the tidal ways of the times...

That's what I meant with the 'up there with the Kim JongUn´s birthday tribute on award claims of fame' . :) He made another tribute - a parody I assume - to aforementioned celebrity. Feel honored! With so many people voting high the only possibly explanation is that you've now risen in the ranks to become the renowned individual of which only the mention of name + good intention is enough to spark up a spot in the dailies! :D
