Oh there's still stats... but no gym to work out in, you have to beat NPC's or other players with fists or melee weapons to build strength. Lung capacity is the same, sneaking stat is new. And if you build all of the stats, your health-size stat (which isn't listed) will hit 100%... I hit 100% health a few days ago, after all the listed stats were about 90%+

Nah, not really, it's been on consoles and the PC long enough, for the kids here to have moved onto something else. Mod shut down the GTA thread I started in Clubs/Crews, he said the old thread in Games would have to do. I joined manly-chicken's gang, though the other members have since moved on.

Oh, that's cool to know. Hidden features. Do you get a message when you hit 100% health though, or is it up to you to review those other stats for such measure?

Sad times for the GTA community. :/ Feels like the newer generation doesn't really take the time to savor and appreciate all there is to a game. manly-chicken's still playing though?

It's a pretty bold and distinctive pop-up, only goes off every time you exceed 20% in whichever attribute leveled up. Strength is taking the longest, but if you do melee deathmatches and/or early cellphone missions (where the whole city has no cops), beat the public senseless... you get there.

It's funny how the kids chase the dollar, buy the newest thing, bling... once you've go the armored kuruma, maybe bought something that flies and shoots, you really don't need much else to complete missions, heists, challenges efficiently. Car racing's another matter... Nah, I think manly-chicken's moved on, from both here and at GTA:O, time will tell

Cellphone missions huh, you mean the regular missions? Good knowing bout the levels.

Mmm, I'm probably still far away from armored Kuruma's and drones (?). For shame even manly-chicken chickened out man!

At least the (un)official GTA Forums(.com) are as alive as ever, I signed up there to post a mod once, and had it closed down right away since apparently you had to take author copyrights into consideration (was I a noob!) aaand I haven't posted there since. Seems like a nice place though, always some inspiring mod work in progress too. Doesn't feel very necessary with GTA V at the moment, considering it's still brand new and all, but were you ever into modding the older games? Tried any TCs?

Yup, there's missions you can get by calling NPC's, then there's the heists (haven't finished yet), Lamar missions (haven't finished yet) are spots on the map... actually almost everything you can do is on the map, if you have your cellphone set to display everything.

The armored kuruma can be had after completing the first heist, the Flecca bank. It's a 2 player job and everyone likes to do it. I wish GTA V was new forever, but even for PC, the game's been out about a year now.

Haven't done any modding since the turn of the century... 2 mods for HL, which I had gotten through a PC Gamer demo disk, and they were both spectacular! What's a TC?

Mmm I've stumbled upon some pretty interesting NPCs so far, the guy in the dumpster, the old folks sifting through celebrity trash, the guy searching for fragments of a UFO... so much left to explore though!

Multiplayer does have it's perks! I guess a year is a long time in modern time, and yet the classics last decades. Wonder if any newer games will ever reach such cult status.

Those demo discs of old had some real gems! New ones barely have space for anything. I've download most of the ones I've tried via gtagarage.com or gtainside.com, and a few pretty interesting TCs via moddb.com. TC = Total Conversion. Most notable mod for SA was probably this one, though since it modifies your saves I never got around to trying it: http://www.gtagarage.com/mods/show.php?id=1194

Might still be playing that game if I had...

Mods that have the biggest impact are the ones that seem the most basic though, things like this really made a huge difference on the old games: http://www.moddb.com/mods/gta-vice-city-lod-mod

Now you can even add in additional cars, and bypass the game's object limitations, stuff that was impossible back in the day. If they'd figured those things out back then there'd probably have been some pretty amazing TCs out there! I dream of some day mashing together all the best mods, and adding in all good additional vehicle, land mods, etc, outside the limits - just making a gigantic expansion with all that already exists. Wouldn't be legal to distribute without consent from authors, but there'd be ways to get around that. Last time I tried to start a project like that I didn't really have the know-how, but I did give it a shot: http://cyberd.org/gtasa/mm_v5.htm

Had to abandon project since my computer wasn't good enough to either work or play on the mod though.

I made about a dozen or so friends since last year, and very few of them have even played the single player game O_o I got all the sub parts, but still have to chase letters, peyote buttons, and a few random encounters with Franklin... so I'm at about 90% completion. It's really good the Social Club thing actually shows where these collectables are located!

The first mod you listed (and is no longer available to download) looks the most interesting, as it includes the buried content we never got to play and adds some decent extras besides. But... I played and beat GTA:SA so many times on PC and PS2, I'd rather just mess with GTA V. Someday soon, I'll buy a legit copy of GTA IV, simply because I haven't played it yet; I never could beat the encryption.

That's crazy. I_I I couldn't imagine a GTA without single-player. It's the story I look forward to the most with these games, not sure I even gave SA-MP a chance when that came out - multiplayer just didn't seem very appealing to me. Cool stuff! How many hours have you put into the game you think?

If you ever do want to download that first mod there are places to get it, just so you know! I know, expanding upon what already exists, and adding what should've been there but wasn't, is the best way to mod IMO. Changing the game entirely can be fun, but making the original the best it can be is way better. As are graphical improvements that don't actually swap out textures for something entirely different, but rather improve on what there is, improve processing or vectors or stuff like that. There's really a ton of great mods, those are just the tip of the iceberg. For a selection of the best/biggest/most actively developed this is useful reference:http://gtaforums.com/topic/714017-iiivcsa-mod-index/

And then there are hooks like CLEO ( http://cleo.li/ ) through which you can add in pretty much anything. Anyway, I'm not planning to go back to GTA SA either, at least not yet, even though story-wise the old games are just... so streamlined somehow. So easy to get into. Simpler, but still more challenging. Can't say it was better back then, but the GTA SA story with the GTA V environment... I'd love to see that!! Maybe there'll be a mod for that someday.

As for GTA IV, it had a pretty bad memory leak on some systems, of which mine was apparently one. I never finished it since it kept crashing ever 2-4 hours, and I never got into the habit of saving at the right time. Also didn't like the landscape as much in Liberty, but it was great otherwise.

I'm going to guess I've put in just shy of 100 hours into the single player game, with just over 90% completion (still have collectables and a few odd meetings to get to 100%). As far as online play, more than 100 hours, to be sure!

I'm using a 230GB SSD for my main drive, and it needs a good cleaning. Between GTA V, Fallout 4 and a few older titles... running out of space. I could run a few games from my 2TB HD, but it's going to take time. IDK, back in the day, modding and add-on packs were a blessing, but the industry's moved onto DLC, online updates and being even more protective of the integrity of their games... Fallout 4 is the (atypical) exception; the outside scenery is just awful, and I think they were hoping the modders would basically do their job for them.

Not bad!

Regular 2TB drive too slow? I'm running GTA V from a mechanical one, haven't had any problems so far. Mmm I wouldn't say they've taking over the need for mods with their additional content, they usually offer additional challenges and customizations more than really drastic changes, and when the games start aging they move on, and it's up to modders to keep the game alive, and as visualy appealing as possible in lieue of all new techniques and improvement. It's a shame games are getting harder and harder to mod, especially since mods prolonge the life of a game so much. If you couldn't have done anything with DooM for example, I wonder if it'd still be popular today. If they think long-term I think the modding community really keeps the fanbase alive and growing, spawning truly dedicated followers to the franchise.

DLCs are fun, but in many cases it feels like they could've packed some of that stuff with the original. Too much milking as much money as possible with upgrades, even when they barely add anything at all.

Haven't tried Fallout 4 yet. Sounds like: not a good idea?

I never ran a test to see which drive was faster, though I'm sure the HD is more than fast enough to prevent bottlenecks, though I do kinda wish I opted for a 3GB video card instead of the 2GB on my GTX 760, then I could run my newer games at max texture...

I guess most developers are scared of modders, since not all of them wear white or gray hats. There are some good graphic mods for Fallout 4, but I haven't tried any of them yet. If you liked Fallout New Vegas, odds are you'll like Fallout 4... I just got frustrated with the choosing of sides toward the end of the game, seemed a little too cut and dry for my tastes. Fallout fanatics like sevenseize and deathink seemed to like the new game okay, even the slightly below-par DLC as well.

Back when I got my 2GB I don't think 3GB was even an alternative... think I'll wait for the 4GB cards to cheapen before the next upgrade. It all moves so fast.

Too true. As for Fallout, I was never a big fan of the original games, but now that it's all in 3D and looks more like a FPS I might give it a shot! Soon as: time.

Ello my good man. Long time no talk, seriously. How have you been holding up dude?

Yo! Long time indeed. It's going good, though monotonely -falling into the routines of work and all them habits I'd rather evade...though there are good things too: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/678520

How's life yourself? Any groovy news?

I've been doing fine myself, thanks for asking. Nope, nothing new. Just checking around here for some nostalgic stuff or some games.

Plenty of nostalgic stuff on this profile! ;) Well, good to see you're still around, read your last newspost and it seemed like you might not be. There's no place quite like home though!

thx

np :)

What you said earlier- 2016 is going by so fast. I can't believe how much time has gone by in such a short-seeming period of time.

Yeah, it's crazy. :/ I'm still working on some of the same projects now as I was in January...

booked a flight up North yet??

Not yet! It's one of those things I really need to do ASAP, prices be rising fast. Maybe today.

Will most likely be at the start of July btw.

keeps getting later and later every year huh

Yeah, a bit. It was the start of July last year too, but looks like it'll be a few days shorter this year. Still upholding the two month minimum though!

don't smack my @ss off...cough

I'm not black as Tupac was.. cough

its 118 degrees outside WTF!

Crazy. O_O It's been closing in on 90 here when it was at its warmest, just that was pretty unbearable! Do you have AC though?

I have to AC, otherwise I would die.

That's cool. Real hot place you live in there. Though it doesn't compare, I do wish we had some AC here, something else than windows to open for air - when night falls and light mauls to crumbles and tears, but even close to midnight, cold air is scarce. Yeah.

do you atleast have fans

653 of them. :P More seriously: nope, no fans. Should probably get some.

trick question, and ya failed. Your computers have fans

Doh! And yet they seem to make it even warmer...

1. invert fans
2. CPU continues to increase in temperature, fans spin faster
3. eventually CPU burns out, decreasing ambient temperature
4. fans stuck on high speed loop
5. ????
6. stay cool like a dog in the swimming pool

Don't burn out. Let the computer burn out instead!

Man I could use a swimming pool too... liquid cooling, ya know.

hmm...well most Europeans don't know how/don't care to swim...it's more for people without foreskins lol...

That's not the type of liquid cooling I was talking about! :O I'm all for skins though. Many benefits.

'twas a convoluted joke. Americans are more about swimming, Europeans are more about riding bicycles. It's more common for Americans to be circumcised, in European cultures circumcision is more frowned upon.

Aha, not that type of swimming then. And aha again, we like bikes, is that common knowledge over there? I do like riding bikes, and we do happen to have about 16 of them in the family, but I really thought we were more about water than bikes, all the way back to Viking-era and beyond... tis been our element.

Did you know there are 97,500 lakes (larger than 2 acres - counting smaller ones there's over 200,000) just in Sweden, and in the entire US 123,439 larger than 10 acres, excluding the Great Lakes. Probably not all that equal a comparison with the varying acre sizes, those were the stats I could find, but point being: we have a lot of water over here... and not that much biking as far as I know. Don't know bout the rest of Europe though. Also didn't know swimming was a big thing over there! Do you swim much?

All correct about the circumcision though. It baffles us some take it for granted. Thought there'd be some link between the two topics in that previous comment though hrmm..
