Christmas confirmed

Awesome art! I love the style of it. Merry Christmas dude! :)

Thanks man. :) Merry Christmas!

Man it took me forever to find it, but here it is:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3Mz0QYMWTU

I knew i had a song about with an Illuminati theme somewhere on my library.

On a completely different level than all those supposed Illuminati references in mainstream hops! Nice track.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MeE3-rOG7i4
This one is even better.

For real! I liked the music in the last one, liked the words in this one.

yo check the hip-hop projects folder (remember it's in movies)
I just had to test your new spoken word to a beat, I'm surprised that it synced fairly well!

Aye, did you have this beat lying around or... just make it? :O It synced real well! After all the trouble we had with that other one where I was actually rhyming TO the beat... this is amazing. Cool effects with the echo, voice fading out etc, but those baby laughs caught me off guard a bit though! Not sure if the first laugh is a baby btw...? Last one really fit with the theme, but they're all kinda loud. Apart from that I love it! What do you think about submitting?

I know right lol!! Yeah I just made it today (as in less than 12 hours ago). Had the main organ and drum pattern (8 bars at 140 BPM) made right before I listened to your submission, and then I was inspired to finish it afterwards.

Lol! They're actually adult girl laughs (the first two) pitched upwards. The last one was a real baby lol, it sounds more like talk to me though.

Submitting, sure! well the vocals could sync a little bit better at parts understandably so (although it is closer than what we managed to get with Diamond Rimz!) and I agree with all the auxillary talking, some of the lead synths seem a bit out of place too, and could be reworked or eliminated altogether.

Perfect timing! :D

Haha, I wouldn't have known! It's nicely masked. Hmm, happy talk!

Sounds like a plan man! How soon do you reckon it can be done? Though, it's no rush, New Year's soon here and all. I'm planning to submit a couple other tracks today, was aiming to have 6 audio submissions this year but somehow these submissions always end up last minute...

Btw, do you think you could swap out the 'even if you don't know that you've done wrong' line with a new take? I didn't think that little err mattered so much with the vocal version, but listening to it with music it's bugging me more and more...

Oh man creepy song incoming with baby laughter included, now i am curious...

Haha, won't be long apparently!

Probably before new year, as I think it's almost done!! Thank god for no phantom syncing problems this time...And I rescind my previous comment about the vocals being off-time in certain parts- the beat has a naturally loose feel so it stylistically fits IMO.

oh wow 6 audio submissions?? are they acapellas or did you have other sick rap collabs you've been working on??

So you would just dub over that single part that you didn't like with a new recorded take and send it over? Or did you want me to swap it out with some other vocal or just cover it up with FX or something? Probably yes to both...though the former would be easier (and sound more natural of course)

Nice. Yeah those were pretty nerving!

Ah not 6 more, just 6 total. At least. OK if it goes up to 7! The two I have planned are one short portal track/verse combo and one short acapella for the New Year, nothing all to masterful! :)

Well since you have all the effects on your end, I was thinking I'd just re-record that one line (try to make it sound like the surrounding verse, same volume etc) and send it over, if that works? You could cut down the volume for the already-existent part (no cuts/no sync problems right?) and layer it over. What do you think?

cool...i've got sights on some sick new tunes for 2015!!

yep yep, that will work.

Going to be an awesome year!

Groovy, had to step out a bit, had to shovel snow, now I have to eat lunch but... after that I'll get right to it!!

p.s.

if you haven't used the acapella to re-record yet, I put a version of the track in the folder with the removed line, if that helps any.

p.s. x2

sick new tunes for 2015...that Desiree song hip-hoperized...perhaps a Doom themed metal-rap (similar to the style of Cyberdevil's Back? but a bit heavier though), also I was browsing your site and found this cool track: http://cyberd.org/kungsangen-back.html

Ohh, will check it out!

lol, wasn't seriously considering that Desiree one, but who knows... Doom themed metal-track sounds like a cool idea. lmao, that one... apart from the excessive ad-libs, totally unsuitable facial expressions in some places and over-use of certain words it wasn't that bad. :) I marked all of these old videos as unlisted on YT, but they're still on the site, for people to stumble upon on rare occasions... good find btw!

*Pops open a bottle of Glögg, revs up the grill with some fish-based Swedish meatballs, makes a cloudberry salad (a hypothetical Dr. S3C culinary classic!), breaks an Ikea chair to use as firewood, whistles over to bachelor party girls* here's to another fine year of NordicGrounds!!

Hah, a nonreligious Amen to that! :D Glögg's usually warmed up and served after long cold winter promenades though, better swap that with an aged bottle of rum-flavored Julmust! ;) Delicious stuff. Cloudberry salad hmm... you might've just invented the next new thing! Here's to the Old Grounds and the New Year! And do all the dope sounds that we do here!

how did I find that video in the first place anyway...because it wasn't listed under your 'videos' tab. I had to search for a bunch of random Swedish towns that started with K...

Kangos?? Ohh wait, that video... strange indeed, speaking of which, I need to really update that video tag.

Actually to be fair that is not really a game.
And what i wrote was not really a review XD.
I guess people were still under the spell of the festivities (me included since i gave it 5 stars).

Hah yeah, the move from 'Flash' to 'Games' and 'Movies' made it all pretty complicated. :) Does an interactive animation sort as a game? Does a comic with animated transitions sort as a movie? At least the Gadget's category is the obvious spot for stuff like this!

But you left it in the 'reviews' section man, what gives? :P

That might've been it! Thanks.

For me? no, i don't even consider Visual Novels as games, for the rest anything can be a game as long as it has a minimal level of interaction, it depends on how cheap you can get with your gameplay XD.
Are the transitions continual giving a sense of movement from page to page? if the answer is no, then no. In "Understanding Comics - The Invisible Art" by Scott Mccloud, a similar question is asked what is the difference between a Comic and a Manga? the conclusion was that the paneling of the traditional Manga is more dynamic in order to have an emphasis in movement, the same conclusion was supported in "Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga" by Koji Aihara and Kentaro Takekuma, however as the mediums have advanced this distinction was abandoned.

It is just a congratulatory commentary, and it is in danger of being purged if anyone ever decides to flag it.

It was a nice gadget it deserves the stars.

Hmm, would you consider this a game? http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/650989

Yeah, I remember hearing that as well. There's a lot of effects in Manga that aren't traditionally used in Western comics as well, like written sound effects, but back to the topic here...

Encouragement in the review section is generally supported, no matter how trivial a comment it is! ;) Had a pretty intense debate in the wi/ht on the topic of positive versus negative feedback recently, the consensus being that the threshold for negative feedback being deemed abusive is much lower than positive feedback since it generally doesn't 'offer benefit to the author'. Even a short 'nice' is a word of encouragement and thus would be deemed constructive. Was going to quote another part of the review guidelines here btw (about the constrictive part), but either I'm imagining things or they've just removed that part..

Still appreciate it! :)

No, i don't consider interactive movies as games neither do i think that exploration scenic or atmospheric simulations should be games, in that case the Encarta 3D maps should be games too, and there are people who think they are actual games, i can see how people would think of them as games, they have a level of interaction and "freedom" in which you chose were to go and what to see by moving from one point to another, but there's even people that are more strict than me, some people don't even consider The Last of Us as a game, they see it as a glorified movie XD.

I don't see why being nice to someone should be considered constructive, you are not telling/giving them any information they could use to improve and construct upon, in my comment specifically i don't say what exactly i like about it, at all XD, it can be seen as encouragement but... yeah.

How would you categorize the Encarta 3D maps on NG? :P Well I didn't mean to take the term offsite here, was asking the above in response to the 'anything can be a game as long as it has a minimal level of interaction' part of your comment below. Some games really do get close to movies, but I'd still see it as a game as long as you control the flow of events. All those 'choose your own ending' adventures, in literature, on YouTube etc, I'd class all of those as games as well.

Well, the first definition of constructive is this: having or intended to have a useful or beneficial purpose. And encouragement would definitely have a beneficial purpose for the author no?That was the consensus anyway. ;) When you put it in context (e.g. constructive feedback) it's definitely a whole different thing!

Oh and a happy new year is 2015 after all i think.

Lemme check... yupp 20 15 it is! 22 05 on the first day 01 01! Happy New Year man!

As gadgets but not as games. Mmmh yeah i consider them as interactive books and videos but not games, Pigpen recently made a video on JRPG and under his those wont be considered as games https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-yw9eZ_8TU in essence they have less interaction than choose your own adventure books, videos on YT, and VN.

Yeah i can see how when using that definition, encouragement can be constructive, in the sense that more content will be created, not necessarily improved.

22.05? it is 17.01 over here.

Interesting video. Interesting hearing how that guy sounds too. As per definition: 'an activity that one engages in for amusement.', that breadth of stuff that'd classify as a game gets pretty big! Wonder how Pigpen defines a game.. all a game developer really does is find new ways of amusing the player, in more or less meaningful ways. Not trying to trivialize the medium though, creating a game world in which the player truly emerges themselves is a constant challenge, and they keep on innovating; finding new ways to do so! RPGs can be scarily efficient at amusing the player, to the extent some people devote their entire lives just to one certain title... think we talked about this earlier btw...

Yupp.

Mmm, few hour difference! Over here it's... time to sign off.

Yeah we talked about text on NPCs and stuff XD .
'an activity that one engages in for amusement' uff... by that definition even Sakura Spirits could count as a game, and that thing is at best a picture book, badly written, with sexualised women, it doesn't really has any choices at all, you can even run it on automatic so you wont have to click for the next piece of dialogue, however some people find the story and images amusing... (is not like it has anything else, you should search the gamegrumps letsplay of that "game")

First sleep of 2015? good night man.

But if you run it on automatic there will be no interactivity, thus no activity hmm... Sakura Spirits huh, wil check it out! Better play it first hand than watch a let's play, form my own assesement on it. :P Sexualised women and stuff seems pretty common in Asuan media in general, anime/manga, cosplay, visual novels... like a part of the culture no? From the screenshots I Google it looks more like a hentai game though...

Hah yeah, when you put it that way it sounds pretty special! :D I had the first of a lot of things this first day of the year. First breakfast, lunch, dinner, walk, comment, review, forum post, blog, poem, lyric, not to mention incredibly awesome first shower of the year! Yeah! Refreshing sleep too, woke up four hours ahead of schedule, it starts well! Good morning man!

oh cool you guys use the military 24 hour clock system??
I guess America should do that too...the metric system is f*cked

Colombia and Sweden are spread into two different Time Zones right??

S3C (Arizona, United States): 18:15
Cyberdevil (Stockholm(?), Sweden): 02:15
Doomroar (Bogota(?), Columbia), VicariousE (New Jersey, United States), The Fulps & NewGrounds HQ (Pennsylvania, United States): 20:15
Nietzlawe (Globe of Earlobe, United Kingdom): 01:15

I propose that time is consistent throughout the whole world...just makes more logical sense... I mean time is a ubiquitous constant moving at 1 second per second that man tries to artificially adjust according to the position of the Sun; I don't get 8 hours older if I instantly teleport to Sweden...So in essence we celebrate one New Year at the same time throughout the world (although imagine all the power being used all at once globally lol!!)...we would just have different ideas of what "12 AM" is depending on the region...plus I won't miss out on some sick animes due to miscalculating the time zone difference from Toonami commercials...

I guess we do! Though it seems different from what I see in the movies, we use no leading zeros with single digits, and divide the digits, 0500 hours = 5:00. ;) An international standard until you reach past twelve.

That puts things in perspective, nice! I do indeed live in Stockholm. Didn't know you lived in such a different timezone from the rest of the NG peoples, the US is a big place.

But then the big question arises: who will lead the way, who will steer the standard for this global format? Who will have their sunups and downs in normal time, while the rest of the world enjoys such phenomena at the most diverse hours? Watching the sun set at 11, getting up at 3, eating breakfast at 18... if you move between locations, you'd need to adapt to the new location rather than the time, so get up and go to bed at a different time depending on when it's night in that particular part of the world. Though there would be benefits! Traffic would flow flawlessly, it'd be easier to schedule meetings over the Internet, I'd know exactly when the NG day ends and begins and when deadlines apply... though people in the rest of the world would have little way of knwing how the sun stands in various parts of the world and when people go to sleep there, unless we derive a new way of measuring such info that doesn't rely on time hmm.

Btw, I read recently about how not too long ago we actually had different times in different areas here in Sweden, not just cities but even smaller towns, all had their own clockwork. They eventually 'nationalised' time since certain forms of transport (trains) were having trouble co-ordinating their track use. Anything similar you know of in the US?

well even though I live closer to the NewGrounds headquarters than Doomroar, he's still in the same time zone as the staff and VicariousE...

The country that would have sunrise and sunset at traditional times would be none other than the Illuminati place of origin AKA the center of the Earth AKA the Pyramids in Egypt...You just miss the time zone...talk about owned!! But I would be f*cked even more, since I'm 9 hours behind Egypt...

So let's see, a "normal" person where I live would hypothetically go to bed at 09:00 (lol) and wake up at 17:00 (lol), on the other hand it wouldn't really affect you since you are just an hour behind

Well people who travel have to adjust their sleep cycle anyway to account for the sun-setting and rising at different times than their circadian clocks are use to. If they don't, they would still be sleeping at the same universal time.

And of course there would still be "compensatory" or traditional clocks that are secondary to the universal clock that I propose herein to compare when bedtimes are across the globe lol...

See, that just makes accounting for time needlessly complex! The only type of similar action I've heard of in the states (and throughout much of the world, but only in some states) is daylight savings, who adjust their clocks due to less hours of sunlight, but that's all nationalized...Sweden has daylight savings right...

the amount of sunlight fluctuates greatly according to the season of the year...

In summer, the sun can shine from 05:00-20:00
Now in the winter, the sun comes out from 07:00-18:00

Which is relatively tame...us equatorial people have pretty consistent days annually...on the other hand people towards the poles may experience 24 hours of days or night!! truly profound
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_sun
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polar_night

p.s. check out the hip hop folder again lol

Mmm, strange world!

Oh Egypt's the center of the Earth? Superficial 2D surface center? Symbolical structure center? Cultural origin center?

Hah, justice at last! :D Finally I'd have NG time on my side!

True, but with time the same in all countries, you wouldn't be able to easily know if a person's awake or not in another country, you wouldn't be able to perform certain routine tasks at certain routine times if you move around... and in the dark of winter where there's little sun, it'd be difficult to adjust to a different timezone when the time's the same... what time is it really, when you don't know if it's morning or night? :P

Yeah, Sweden has daylight savings too, always fun when winter comes, when you get to wake up one hour earlier without going to bed any earlier. :) Not so fun in spring...

True.

Man you have long days over there! We have sun (IOW light) from 08:38-15:08 right now. Up North 10:47-12:42. I remember watching those '30 Days of Night' thrillers... must be pretty intense living in one of those places!

Oooh, something new! And to think I waited a few days with replying to this! O_O
