Thursdays just don't feel like Halloween, but it is! Happy spooky normal day!

As a freelancer any holiday is a potential weekend. :) Have a good one!

Oh i was in a plan with mu ISP provider, it made constant backups to the cloud, but i find out soon that the place wasn't all that safe so i cancelled the service, from time to time i wonder if it was a good idea to cancel...

I found the image in http://monsterbrains.blogspot.com/2012/04/jm-de-aragon.html (they post great stuff) and i just fall in love with it, then i read the text below, and damn, it speak so much truth!

https://ia801503.us.archive.org/2/items/AmazingStoriesVolume02Number03/AmazingStoriesVolume02Number03.pdf

Mr Aragon is not really the writer just the Illustrator, but he is one hell of an illustrator! The image itself is after "The Visitation" and before "The Electronic Wall" He seems to have made other works for the same magazine http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/ea.cgi?134586
As well as for other books: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/book/browse?type=title&index=550186&key=haverhill%20herald%20%2F%20esther%20greenacre%20hall%20illustrated%20by%20jm%20de%20aragon&c=x

But so far that is the one that i like the most.
As for the stories they are quite good, most of them Sci-Fi, and i love that they are free licenses, probably because they are so old by now (and not so well known...), so what i originally thought would be hard to find was not really much of a hustle, nevertheless things like that are the sort of stuff i backup, and fear of losing.

Cloud services are never really safe, so if you have files you really don't want anyone else to access it's best to keep them offline. I think it's pretty crazy that large companies actually use the cloud to host their infrastructure, makes them much more susceptible to attacks or fraud, not to mention irrecoverable data losses when the files aren't even always available locally. If you don't have privacy concerns though there are some great services like that! I'd consider it if I had better broadband but as it is I need what I have. :)

Ah, that's the first link that appeared when i Googled the name. :) I didn't get much info on my search though, so thanks for all these links! The words were pretty memorable. As for me the files I really fear to loose are of things I make myself, too many computer crashes back when I didn't know anything about computers taught me that. :/

Yeah is those blue screens of death the ones who teach you how perilous things can get on your PC haha.
Well, some of my works and essays i would rather to keep them between myself and the professors, but they say a work is death if no one reads it, some of them even dare to say death, and not in a figurative way, and i am not even a student of letters! that's why i canceled the service, it also was updating randomly, you select a hard drive, and it uploads everything, while it works in the background, i find it more obnoxious than helpful, plus the moment it got to videos i would have to explain: "look i do own (most of) those DVDs! is just that i don't like my DVD reader!" XD haha.

Yeah Monster brains is a great page, they don't update as often as before, but they are still great.

Haha oh yeah, blue screens! Haven't seen one of those in years! :D I get nostalgic just thinking about them... ah, the days when... computers kept crashing, most programs didn't have autosave, drivers didn't update automatically, there were viruses even on NG... times change. :P

Thats true. I have so many lyrics and other texts stashed away that still nobody has ever read... some day though... they will be!

Sounds troublesome. :) I used to have Voddler installed but it kept running in the background, autostarting with the computer, collecting who knows what kind of information. O_o I guess I'm a bit paranoid when it comes to programs, especially ones who constantly make use of my Internet access....

It does look interesting. Bookmarked for the future.

Lats time i saw one, was 2 years ago, on windows vista... so i cant be nostalgic at all, that one hurt me but badly! the horrors!

Yeah those background programs you just don't know exactly what is that they are uploading, another horrifying thing! yeah and not only that it used a little bit of resources too, that's why i have the CPU/RAM usage gadget there, to see if something may be running in the shadows, you are not the only one paranoid my friend!

I absolutely recommend it, even more just today they put a new post!

Oh, Vista! I managed to stay away from that one, thankfully... seems like every other one of Microsoft's OSes is a catastrophe, XP was great, Vista was pretty crappy, 7 was great, 8 is pretty crappy... I'm looking forward to 9! :D

Good to know. :) Do you edit autostart files too, and remove any unnecessary programs?

Will check!
