If you're looking for a good Doom wad might I suggest "UAC Military Nightmare". Top notch wad!

I've tried it, classic, one of the best WADs of all time! :P

O_e I see you peeking in! Classic Portal's all cleaned up, and looking like it did around the turn of the century!

Yupp, I'm going through old news I've missed. A couple of great changes this summer, support for unicode and these recent changes to the blam/protect system. That old Portal Guard program might come in handy again!

Portal Guard... does it still work? Never saw the need in the past..

Ah, we live next to a former company town that had a huge tobacco mill, where they made snuff and cigar guts. They wanted to turn the mill into apartments, but the smell will always be there (huge red brick buildings)!

Yeah, the deer finally staged a huge invasion - I chased about 30 off a few days ago.. more like herding them, with a quad :| If I ran them into the road, that woulda been news lol

Í haven't tried it in years, let's see... yupp, it works: http://www.wkrconcepts.com/pg3/pg3faq.htm

Might take a while to get used to though, it seems easier to just check the portal directly...

Ah, it's a dying industry I guess. They have an old brick school near our summer place that was abandoned and just left to wither. A few years ago the roof fell in, and they've taken out all the windows, but it seems cheaper to let it stand than to demolish it. How did the snuff work against bugs btw?

Our wilderness seems considerably tame in comparison! How's the damage?

Hi, how are ya havent seen you on the bbs. I assume because of your post :x

I'm good, you? Right you are, I'm back though so I'll get back to posting soon, just need to catch up on some other things...

Eh, haven't been that close to the farming here lately.... I got a settlement from my car accident, so I'm not scrounging for spare change. Well, anything you use to deter the deer wears off from rain or sun... the snuff did keep the bugs away for a while, not that they were terribly bad this year.

My sister flew in on a day's notice to 'oversee' the farm's demise. My heart just isn't in it >:( Funny she showed up right after I got some money in my pocket....

Ah, change to spare. :) Good news! Not sure if I've asked aleady, but what crops do you grow?

:/

Well thats good, its always nice to see you posting on there.

Nice to hear it!

Oh yeah and Im fine, Ive been posting less as well. I cant find any worthy topics to post in. Its all been sluggish

If all else fails, there's always P-Bot. :P

Glad you agree! Terry is a god!

Indeed, he must have been high when he made that WAD.

(aww everyone happy to see you back, *squee*)

Cherry tomatoes, beets, zucchini, cucumbers, cantaloupe, pumpkin, a few herbs (which names escape me) oh, and watermelon, gots plenty o them :)

Ah, watermelon! That's one thing we can't grow up North, not even in the greenhouse.

whoop, whoop, welcome back bro

sounds like you had a blast

do you harvest your crops for profit and/or for food industries? or is it mainly for your family? I would love to do that for 2-3 months a year. I've always had some kind of weird passion for fruits and vegetables, although I can't cook worth shit. Don't think I would be able to raise and tend to livestock though...it would be a real nice change to my current comfortaly dry boring life, wasted away at my boring ass job, boring (sometimes) school work, and lack of social interactions.

Shoop tha whoop, thanks bro!

As always. :)

Since we work the land by hand there's only enough to feed family (and occasionally friends if there is surplus). It sounds nice, but it's a lot of monotone work too, digging and weeding, the harvesting and eating is a small portion of pleasure (worth it, though). Livestock would be hard to manage in just a couple of months, but we borrowed sheep from a nearby neighbor a few years, not to eat but to keep the fields filtered. Hey, if you have the chance feel free to visit some summer! I'd probably be withering away in a bleak despair if it wasn't for these refreshing peaks of the year, though that's all going to change... eventually. Need to stop envisioning a brighter future and start making it a reality.

...

...

true that, but still the weather and the scenery of the outdoors in Sweden makes the monotony easier to swallow I assume, compared to the monotony of reading a textbook and working at a retail store. also, there is a much better sense of accomplishment in actually creating something then just studying for a good grade (which in the grand scheme of everything, is worthless) or working a mindless job just to get paid (to use the money for what? paying bills?) there's this blogger I was checking out online who had a well paying job, a business degree from an Ivy league school, but one day decided to leave it all day to start an organic kale farm in Hawaii with his friends.

thanks for the invite, i'd love to visit Sweden some day :DDD

i feel you, I say the same thing to myself everyday. but it's so much easier to wish for things, than to actually desire them and go out and get them. some day though...

Definitely, refreshing swims in the adjacent lake, fishing in ditto, drinking fresh water from a stream, painting houses as a break in the dig... hmm, it's all good. The sense of accomplishment when working with material is incomparable to that of office duties. No matter how much is accomplished digitally, when you log of it all disappears, it's never really there, what's it all for anyway... is a question I occasionally ponder. Must be great having the willpower to really break out of the system though, people like that blogger are admirable people. I've read a lot of money-making blogs driven by people who decided to leave their former monotony behind and make quick money by telling others how to make quick money, it's a vicious cycle. :)

It's going to be awesome! :DDD

Word. We speak too much; do too little.

In the 60's, my father was hired to operate his loader at a new BASF plant near me. The exec on the job was a old German bloke, who was pissed off about everyone and everything. At lunch (outside, of course) the boss came scowling around to crack the metaphorical whip at my Pop and others, when he noticed he was eating watermelon. The crotchety boss very politely asked for a slice, and said only the very wealthy in Germany, could afford such things! So, my Pop was the only employee not given too hard a time, while constructing that place, since watermelon in late Summer is always around....

Have you been growing watermelons on the farm for over 40 years? It's a nice tale, a clash between pro/antagonist, an intrigue, crisis and resolution. :) Wonder if watermelon's still considered a luxury in Germany...

My father's old boss flew over from Germany... guess there was/were still austerity measures over there in the 60's... The building's a few miles from our exit on the Turnpike, so it came up in conversation on the way back from the airport.

A monumental memory.

Haha, probably. That wad taught me how to script!

So it did some good. :) It's a joke in play, but it must've taken some serious scripting to make.

so what is it that you aspire to make a reality?

Well that's a part of the problem, I'm not sure exactly how I'd like my road paved, but I do aspire to change my reality in some way that is beneficial to me and everyone around me, so that somehow I may appreciate each new day in new ways, maybe viewing blue waves along the coastline of a beautiful place, sitting calmly eating toast after toothpaste, knowing that I will do great as soon as I do wake, fueled by all but overdue hate with all but time on my food plate. But maybe that's the superficial side of the dream; I hope accomplishment might manifest most in something other than illustratively material wellbeing. I used to want to change the world, but hmm, not so much anymore. No idea what I really want (or what I'm saying). :/

Aren't you friends with Gamejunkie? He know you're back?

Eww, toast after toothpaste? My sis had watermelon margaritas recently... I had apple pie moonshine (diluted for Northerners :\ originally 120 proof, meant for the frigging petrol/gasoline supply here! Awful stuff, leaves a varnish and rots seals, and destroys fuel gauges and and fuel pumps too :p

I suppose so, still haven't posted the official 'I'm Back' post though, still not back in my NG posting/reviewing routines...

You don't brush your teeth before breakfast? :P Watermelon margaritas sound nice, that other stuff... hmm... cleansing.

brush your teeth after breakfast...orange juice + mint residue from toothpaste = horrible combination

almost as bad as the spongebob watermelon brand toothpaste

If I do that all the bacteria that's been assembling in my mouth during the night will go down with the food, so not much use. I don't usually drink orange juice though, usually some herbal tea (like dandelion or liquorice) before eating, and mint-flavored toothpaste is a rarity here, right now it's pomegranate. Hmm, Spongebob watermelon toothpaste... doesn't sound too bad! I've never tasted any form of melon toothpaste.

you dont have crest, aquafresh, colgate, etc. in sweden? thats like the industry standard here, and mint flavored is pretty much the default.

any fruit flavored toothpaste is a crime against humanity!

Colgate and Pepsodent are the most common in Sweden, I don't think they have Aquafresh; never heard of Crest. And yeah, Mint flavor is probably the standard, but I I meant here as in my house. We like to buy toothpaste free of flouride and other toxins. Baking soda for example is a much healthier alternative, not so practical to use as is, but there are plenty of pastes containing it. Also can't wait until they start including ozone, if (when) it becomes possible.

You don't like fruits? :P

Damn man, no caffeine in your wake up hot liquid? Orange pekoe or black tea is mah bag.

The mint flavor covers up the sorbitol/saccharine poison taste so....

I usually sleep until I wake up, no need for caffeine. :) Orange pekoe sounds great, does it taste orange? Or is that just the name? We vary all kinds hough, mostly herbal, occasionally green, white, red; even black once in a while but not usually in the morning.

Yeah, saccharine is a real poison. Better get something with stevia or xylitol instead.
